330ml bottle obtained from Torrence Liquors, Calumet City IL.
Slightly alcoholic, citrusy and white grape aroma. No head, little carbonation. Lovely clear golden color -- defintely the lightest colored doppelbock I’ve seen. While there is plenty of malt sweetness and some fruit notes, the flavor is drier than the aroma would suggest. Think of it as more of a "doppel vienna lager." Moderate hop bitterness. Not very lively on the tongue, a bit thick going down. A competent, solid doppel but nothing too special.

[bottle from beers of europe] a golden/orange colour with a quickly diminishing head. Aroma is absolutly not what i expected peaches, liquorice, dried rosemary and alcohol. well bodied but harsh and alcoholic.

Light golden color with a nice head that hangs out for a little while. Aroma is basic and the taste is nothing out of the ordinary. Smooth and slightly bitter. Alcohol is hidden nicely.

Bottle served in my La Chouffe glassware:

Pours a rich amber hue with a small fizzy head and almost no lace. The aroma has notes of honey, over ripened apple, juniper berry, caramel malt, grassy and floral hops, and a hint of peatmoss. The taste starts highly sweet and fruity. The bite upon the finish is more driven by the alcohol and hop spice than bitterness. A hint of oxidition and earthy qualities as well. The feel is heavy and sticky, as bit cloy. Overall, it is good but nowhere near the level of Samichlaus. I also, don’t agree taht this is the right style of this beer. It is a big Maibock and should be listed as a Bock or European Strong Lager.

Thin but complex aroma, disapointing appearence, head not lasting, just a 3. Nice yellow colour. Heavy bitter flavor with a touch of cinnamon!, average finish. You can taste the alcohol. Medium body soft carbonation.

Bottle. Spicy, honey-like corny aroma with some noticeable booze and sweet touches in the nose. Transparent golden color with a whitish head that’s pretty long-lasting. Sweet, vinous, honey-like flavors to start. Mildly bitter in the middle. Finishes with more sweetness. This beer just doesn’t come all together for me. A bit cloyingly sweet. *after viewing RB, this is a doppelbock??**

(Bottle) Pours a clear golden body with a small white head. Aroma of bread, flowers, light citrus-based perfume, and some alcohol. Falvor of vintage ale malt, chardonnay grapes, caramel and a bit of alcohol bite in the finish. I think I would age a year or so before again.

Bottle. Orange-amber in colour with a non-lasting white head. The alcohol dominates the aroma, very sweet with some caramel malt. Huge amounts of alcohol heat pretty much numb the mouth, gingerbread, grains and a caramel sweetness make for a harsh mouthfeel. Light body, medium carbonation. All heat in the finish.
