madsberg (4873), Søborg, Denmark Feb 27, 2005 Bottled: Golden coloured. White dense head. Grass, alcohol and fruit in the aroma. Sweetness, honey, alcohol and fruit in the flavour. The alcohol takes over almost anything in this beer. Too much for my likings. beerguy101 (3861), Newark, California, USA Feb 16, 2005 Medium orange gold color. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is sweet orange and malt. A medium bodied dopplebock. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are slightly spicy. Lots of orange flavors in this one. Fairly large alcohol bite and a lot of alcohol oiliness at 9.6%. Still with all that alcohol it a fairly smooth beer. Definitely a sipping beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and dry. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA Feb 2, 2005 Dark golden yellow with a ring of bubbles. Aroma is sweet sugar with some euro-skunk. Flavor has some light fruits and residuel sugar. Finishes sort of dry. Pailhead (2572), Allen Park, Michigan, USA Jan 14, 2005 Bottle: Big honey aroma. Rather mead-like Belgian combo in the aroma. Pours an orangish-gold with a white head that lasts a minute or so. Lots of honey and toffee up front. Very sweet. Some apple in the background. Alcohol is barely noticeable. Syrupy mouthfeel. heemer77 (4294), Savannah, Missouri, USA Jan 7, 2005 Light gold color with a thin white head and lots of bubbles. Aroma of apple cider past it’s prime. Also some notes of a fresh wheat bread. The taste is a sweet mixture of cheap brandy and pears. Lots of carbonation in the mouthfeel. The alcohol is felt but not so much tasted. Not really very drinkable. More of a big bock, than a dopplebock. dornoy (678), Lyngby, Denmark Jan 5, 2005 From the fridge. Low white head on a dark golden body. Slightly fruity aroma with hints of caramel. The taste is rather dry with middle bitterness and medium aftertaste. A good beer, strong but not too filling. badgerben (3586), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Dec 31, 2004 Clear gold color with no head. Very dry apple aroma, like the begining of a great cider! The taste... eh, I think the apples went rotten. It was a bit on the tart side in a bad way. I highly doubt it was a bad bottle, but I’d try it again out of respect. A doppelbock? Oh I don’t think so. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA Dec 23, 2004 Gold Coloring with White Head. Tasted a Bit Furry..Aroma Reminded Me of my pet Ferret... Some Warming. I Will Try This Again, But For Now, It’s a Disappointment.
