| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Apr 26, 2004 Pours deep gold, almost orange; holding it to sunlight, I get a prismatic rainbow on the floor. Large bubbles form a sparse white head that is gone in 60 seconds, and all carbonation disappears not long after that. Overwhelming MALT nose- buttercream icing, caramel and vanilla. Also just the barest, faintest whiff of grass and golden riasins. A quick driveby of lager-y malt flavor collides with a brick wall of honey-herb cough drop, reinforced with burnt sugar bitterness. Mouthfeel is, well, thick. Woody aftertaste with a touch of mint degrades into a flavor somewhere between generic-brand cigarette butt and lawnmower exhaust. Not very complex, and overly bitter for the style; flavor approaches that of cheap nasty scotch Dixen (1465), Flagstaff, Arizona, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Apr 15, 2004 Clear golden with a fast disappearing white head. The aroma is some citric fruits, hay, some underlying maltiness. The flavor is very alcoholic, malts, citrus. A bit too much alcohol burn. roomtempbeer (185), Franklin, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Apr 12, 2004 Beer pours (in Chimay glass) a medium orange-golden liquid with a small amount of slightly off-white colored head that dissipates quickly to near nothing, but leaves a thin film. Aroma is an orange-lemon citrus with maybe a faint grain, straw, grass, vegetal character. Flavor is a sweet and strong alcohol citrus with a noticable grain, straw, grass, vegetal. Definitely a noticable alcohol burn. Overall, unpleasant to drink. Sampled at 60 degrees Fahrenheit. MAP (1089), Lakewood, Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 1, 2004 Good glassy copper color with not much head at all. Aroma is nutty and smells of malt and wheat. Flavor has a good crisp feel, probably from the bitterness and the alcohol. Fine beer, but nothing to sensational. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 1, 2004 Hazy rusty amber with a thin to non existant white head. The nose is awesome sweetness malts, suggary with a hint of like fruitcake. Kind of reminds me of scotch. The taste starts off malty sweet with a tad of rusty metal. Alcohol vapours at the back of the tounge. Overall, quite interesting, but the rustyness of the taste kind of bothers me. Aurelius (2647), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 31, 2004 Very nice fruity aroma with lots of malt. Some musty tones at times when whiffed at a distance -- earth, mold, cheese. Nice embossed bottle, clean, simple label. Well-balanced, peach ice cream flavor, some vanilla cakiness, ABV is masked but definitely detectable. Not tinny or sherryish. Full-bodied, front-sweet finish moving on to a long lasting, edgy finale. Quite good. Aldrighetti (162), Coltura, Italy
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 27, 2004 Bottled. Dark golden colour, small white head, disappears fast, glass sticking. Sweet nose, at first I smell a strange aroma of fresh cut potatoes, after this, more conventional aromas of fruity, apricot and peach preserved in spirit, malt aroma(bread, potatoes bread), alcohol. Taste is sweet (honey), with a lot of alcohol sweetness. Full body, with an excessive alcohol-feel, rather heavy but easy to drink if compared with similar strong lager beers. It's a beer punch!
