Re-rate 9/8/2004 Sparkling clear amber with a dense white foam for a head. Lacing is superb. The beer is a true joy to behold. Huge sweet malt aroma, somewhat fruity but mainly just malty. Not caramel or molasses but just pure malt, smells a bit like wort. Some wod notes also come throughupon furhter olfactory contemplataion. The flavor is sweet toffee, breadiness uderneath and no real hops to speak of. The alcohol is neer overwhelming and complements the experience well. Full thick body. Truly a beer more akin to a liquore then its malt-based brethern. A must try.

1/12/2004 8/4/8/4/17 - 4.1Pours very thick. Light amber body small white head with ok lacing. Massive sweet honey aroma along with some very distinct Scotch Whisky type aromas. Huge sweet honey and Scotch Whisky flavors. Oaky flavors and almost zero hops. Wow this stuff is good. Body is huge and syrupy. The alcohol is evident in the numbing effect it has on the gums. Not what I expected given this beer’s classification as a dopplebock. A very different beer and one that any true beer geek must try.

Clear, deep yellow lager. Huge malt. Smells and tastes like molten butterscotch and honey. The alcohol isn't shy and neither are the hops, which almost balance the beer. Powerful brew!

Bottled. Gold, thin but sustained white head and good condition. Good mix of sweet malt, graininess and peppery german hops. Full bodied with a thick mouthcoating of fruity sweet honeyed malt and some drambuie like peppery herbal notes. Fruity sweet and hop bitter in the long finish.

Copper colored with a miniscule white head. Clear body. Aroma is strong caramel and malt with strong alcohol overtones. Malty caramel flavor which goes straight to my nose and makes it tingle. Full palate with white dry wine qualities.

Cool orangey colour, but zero head retention. Aroma dominated by bready, toasty, malty stuff. You can smell that it's strong, but it's not really alcoholic. A little diacetyl. Really nice, firm maltiness and not sickly sweet like I was expecting. Citrusy dry finish. Barely noticeable alcohol. Really good firm body, but not thick. A nice beer, but pretty one-dimensional.

33 cL bottle, snifter, 48 degrees F. Average, creamy, white head is slowly diminishing and sits on a deep orange-peach colored body that appears to be very thick, even honey-like. Cereal and dark bread malt (H); plantain, brown sugar, alcohol, citrus aromas. Heavily sweet throughout. Medium-heavy body, syrupy texture, no carbonation, moderately alcoholic. The bottom line is: soft flavors are unable to cut through the syrupy sweetness and alcohol sharpness.

Pours a clear gold, big white head that left speedily and a nice lacing left behind. As stated before, malt and vanilla in the aroma. Sweet candy flavors with some malt. Medium body, with a very creamy palate and a bitter finish.

Clear yellow in color. Enjoyable. Pleasant to drink. High in alcohol. Big beer with malty flavors.
