TheJester (694), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Mar 12, 2009 330 mL bottle. Crystal clear orange with no head whatsoever. Aroma is brown sugar sweetness and alcohol and maybe a little peach. Flavour is pretty much the same. Maybe a little corn in there. The bitterness at the end comes from the alcohol, not hops. Relatively dry. NomDeBeer (398), Maryland, USA Mar 11, 2009 Pours a clear light copper / dark gold color with no head. Aroma is easter bread and sugar. Taste is alcohol, more sugar and easter bread, sweet malt, and a slight hoppiness. The combination of sugar and alcohol is too much for me. Drinkable, but not particularly enjoyable, and certainly not the best dopplebock. danielst (132), Vienna, Austria Mar 8, 2009 Updated: Oct 14, 2009Pours dark golden, head is quickly disappearing. Aroma is, though pretty light, that of prunes, sweet malt and alcohol. Flavours are pretty much the same, sticky mouthfeel - gets hard to drink, especially as it warms. Cloying but well made, full bodied. MrGGen (221), Italy Mar 8, 2009 Colore dorato scuro con leggera schiuma.Aroma al gusto di frutta molto piacevole,Ben equilibrata, sapore di pesca e gusto dolce di caramello,Presenza scarsa di alcool, ma una birra di che riscalda piacevolmente. fredthecat (180), Canada Mar 7, 2009 it is a dark gold with no head. a very interesting and pleasant aroma, but hard to pin down, something like a sugary confection, alcohol and fruity marmelade. taste reminds me of marmelade, sugar, brandy, and a bit of malt. a very nice, oily mouthfeel, this is awesome and i managed to get it for a steal. bubbleflubber (885), Collinsville, Virginia, USA Mar 7, 2009 Pours golden into the glass, with the head diminishing to nothing (due to ABV, I’m sure). The nose is of definitive sour grains and doughy yeast notes. The flavors are similar.... although sweet and alcoholic, the yeast prevails through the other contingencies. A bit unilateral, this doesn’t explore the myriad of integrations like a top-tier doppelbock does. The finish is still yeasty and alcoholic, with a lingering sour dough to the back palate and a mouthfeel devoid of description. An "ok" rate, but not one I’d seek out again, unless I was surely in the mood. pfriesen (34), Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada Mar 5, 2009 Pours golden straw with no head. Bread like aroma with creamy body, some light grass and apple flavours, but very alcohol dominant. terrybail (331), London, Ontario, Canada Mar 4, 2009 330ml Bottle from the LCBO
