Clear golden, with a little bit of head, which dissapates quickly. After Samichlaus, I was too expecting something more complex. Big malt sweetness to this beer. The alcohol was evident, but not overpowering. Some fruitiness to it. Overall, pretty good.

Tastes lovely, finishes badly. Pretty when poured, looking like a lighter pale ale with a big, firm head. Smells very malty and spicy, with peppermint, sweetness, and some saltiness. Flavor is again very spicy, with noticeable alcohol. A bit over-acidic. Finishes far too spicy, tasting as if a large quantity of pepper was dumped in the mix. Quite good; with a gentler finish, would be exceptional.

beautiful beautiful rich amber colour, and i mean amber the stone, not "amber ale" amber, or traffic light amber. on the surface of things a parkbench brew, but surprisingly and thankfully closer to JW lees barley wine than het kanon. malt and hops take backseat and this is actually a lager where the esters are the main attraction. it’s well made enough to get the alcohol out of the way. long raisiny finish, with tobacco. i hate smoking worse than anything except nailrot ads in pharmacy windows, but tobacco in a beer is a classy flavour. massive sweetness, but a long, luxuriant sweetness that dries out in the finish with just a bit of acidity, like a nice dessert wine. maybe i’m getting old, i just panned a chinook imperial stout and i like this.

Very nice fruity aroma with lots of malt. Some musty tones at times when whiffed at a distance -- earth, mold, cheese. Nice embossed bottle, clean, simple label. Well-balanced, peach ice cream flavor, some vanilla cakiness, ABV is masked but definitely detectable. Not tinny or sherryish. Full-bodied, front-sweet finish moving on to a long lasting, edgy finale. Quite good.

Very, very sweet with the alcohol coming through in a very warming way. Pilsner like color and smell, this beer hides its potency well.

strong cider alcohol like aroma. clear golden color, cider like in flavor, and very strong. I’d like to see a little more complexity in flavor to a beer like this.

Orange appearance and poured very flat.Alcohol hits you straight away. Sweet but not overpoweringly so.One to try for special occasions not on a regular basis-could destroy too many braIn cells!

This is the lightest colored dopplebock I have ever seen. Alcoholy-sweet Cognac aroma. Light golden appearance with a quickly fading white head. Looks like apple juice. High alcohol content is evident and is the most prominent "flavor" that sticks out. Faint fruit notes trailing behind it - a litle bit like cognac. Good warming mouthfeel - goes down smooth. Would be a good wintertime nightcap.
