| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 12, 2002 Head is initially small, frothy, white, fully diminishing. Body is dark yellow, thin density of small particles. Aroma is lightly malty (molasses, caramel, light bread), lightly hoppy (flowers), with light notes of bubble gum and peach. Flavor is heavily sweet, moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly bitter. Medium to full body, syrupy texture, soft carbonation, moderately alcoholic. Needs a bit more bittering hops to tame the syrupy sweetness, the aroma is a little light (bottle is of questionable age, so may have mellowed out too much), and the alcohol sticks out a bit too much in the finish. 21iceman40 (1731), vienna, West Virginia, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 12, 2005 I finally had this one after having the damn other one about 5 times. Copper color. The aroma is crazy with lamp oil and toothpaste and some kind of fuel. Mollasses is also very present. heykevin (1269), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 17, 2002 I couldn’t believe how pale this beer was for a beer of its strength. Sweet alcoholic aroma. Nice clean maltiness, though not complex at all. Strong alcohol flavor dominates this one. No defects other than alcohol being quite prominent, but not a whole lot in terms of complexity or charm. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 27, 2002 So innocent looking, sitting there in the glass, clear and golden. Get within a six foot radius though, and the alcohol about bowls you over. I was feeling fairly confident about my ability to handle any beer that came my way until this one. I just couldn’t get past the alcohol. A ballsy beer, and maybe I’ll give it another try after 250 more beers. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Aug 23, 2005 Light golden color with a nice head that hangs out for a little while. Aroma is basic and the taste is nothing out of the ordinary. Smooth and slightly bitter. Alcohol is hidden nicely. Lubiere (4557), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 27, 2007 A golden doppelbock, very light coloured, with a thin creamy white head. A rather striking neutral alcohol aroma, tequila, with light vinous notes, and fruity esters. In mouth, a sweetish beer, with strong alcohol, light licorice, but none of the fruitiness expected from a doppelbock. Shorter in mouth than expected. Bieropholie import BB07-2007. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 28, 2004 Clear golden color with nice sized white head. This I wasn’t expecting from a dopple, but oh well. Aroma was honey-like without anything much else. Big alcohol, malty flavor with a small bit of molasses. Full bodied and strong. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Aug 10, 2003 The surprise of the evening. Totally not what I was expecting. A different take on this style, and I am not one to really speak as an expert as I have not had that many, but this one had alot of interesting flavors. Slightly oily and syrupy, with a sweet alchohol burn in the finish which was slightly annoying, like that last strong sip of a mixed drink. Worth trying, but not something that I would actively seek out again.
