on tap at kulovy blesk in prague - quite a treat to sample a maibock as intended. clear copper with an unstable off-white head; a very meaty beer: aroma of beef jerky in toffee; aftertaste of terriyaki beef fried in butter, kind of slimy but very satisfying with plenty of crisp honeyed malt. probably nothing special in the bottle but boisterous on tap

Pretty bottle with pretty label. Amber colored with lots of effervescence. A little rough and too bitter and unbalanced for my taste. Would be a nice chaser beverage for something strong. Not for me, but it does have some likeable qualities and if you like them rough and bitter, she’ll deliver.

It’s dark amber with a creamy head. The aroma has notes of fruit, malt, caramel, and a touch of over ripe fruit too. The sweet flavor has notes of raisins, ripe fruits, roasted malt, and a touch of licorice and burnt sugar. It’s very nice.

16 oz. bottle from Grocery Outlet in Livermore. Weird to find this one here. It pours a crystal clear copper color with a medium sized orangy head. The aroma is very bready with some apple and honey. Very light, barely noticeable floral hops. The flavor is pretty much the same. Nice bready malts with considerable honeyed malts, light fruitiness and dough. Hints of floral, lightly spicy hops. A pretty nice bock.

Bottle: Deep golden to amber coloured, lively carbonation, a bit unclear, fruity-malty nose, some bready or molassy traces underneath, moderate sweet-bitter flavour, relatively light bodied for a 6.8%…;sweet-malty finish, molasses detectable, hops subdued. Not good, the brewers should take some advice in Franconia…

RBESG 2012 grand tasting. Clear deep golden colour. Aroma peat, grapefruit, fruity. Taste light heavy sweet, caramel, light bitterness. Too sweet for my taste, also alcohol present.

21/07 A 0.5 l bottle at RBESG Grand Tasting. It poured clear dark golden body with smaller head. Orange, toasty and metallic aroma. Flavor was slightly sweet, bread, toast, caramel, ripe fruits. Alcohol was readily present. Body was medium, quite sharp, shorter finish, bready and alcoholic. I was not impressed although it was just about fine beer.
