Bottled, thanks jeverszeuge! Clear mahogany colour, rich but brief head. Aroma of bready malt, lingonberries and slivovic. Sweet and nicely bready with soft, deep malt character. Gentle and well balanced with notes of blueberries and spun sugar. Mild and warming.

Clear medium to dark brown amber colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, chocolate, brown sugar, light alcohol, light roasted. Flavour is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. It’s dark mahogany with a red hue and a creamy, lasting head. The aroma has notes of caramel, roasted malt, dark fruits and nuts. The sweet flavor has notes of licorice, burnt sugar, caramel, roasted malt, dark fruits and nuts - the balance is so lovely.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein dunkelbraunes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch angenehm röstmalzig, Karamell. Geschmack röstmalzig süß, schokoladig, leicht alkoholisch. Dennoch süffig.

Clear and very pretty mahogany colourtoppd by a small off-white head that clearly persists. Alcohol tinted nose offers expressive earth laden huge munich maltiness. Toasted, sugary notes completely overwhelm the neglectable bitterness in mouth. Emerging flavours of candied pear, red licorice and caramelized apples all make it an offering a bit too sweet for my liking, but its medium body that feels very lager-like and quite drinkable helps to settle that in place. A sweet one, but well structured and easy to like. Pretty good doppelbock.

Bottle (thanks Jonas!), Munich (BB Apr 07). Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, toasted bread, nuts), lightly hoppy (flowers, herbs), with notes of plum and overripe banana. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium to full body, velvety/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Despite being many months past the BB date, this was still in remarkably good condition and didn’t show much if any evidence of its age. Not a strong contender, but a solid enough example.
