It’s slightly hazy, warm golden with a white head. The aroma has notes of bread, malt, flower and fruit. The flavor has a light sweetness and is very well balanced with notes of malt, fruit and bread, and the finish is slightly dry. Lovely!

I have to disagree with the previous contributor :) For a "Zwickel" beer the Scherneck is pretty light, but not too weak. Its dominant notes of fresh grain and bread – not to be confused with malt or yeast – are really special, I rarely found this in any other beer! More sweet than bitter, not too fruity, medium body, soft pleasant carbonation.
The best Biergarten beer around (besides a Karg Hefeweizen), just perfect when served cold with a Bavarian Brotzeit. I’m serious.

Süffig-getreidiger Antrunk, süßer und teilweise getreidig werdend. Die Töne wirken dabei nicht wirklich aufeinander abgestimmt und verlaufen alle aneinander vorbei. Die im Mittelteil aufkommende herbe wirkt kraftlos und passt daher wenig, im Nachgeschmack sieht dies kaum anders aus. Der unabgesimmte Aromenbatzen verabschiedet sich schnell und lässt nur ein schwach würzigen Ton zurück. Keinen Kauf wert!

Bottle: Hazy, golden coloured, small - slowly collapsing - off-white head; sweet grainy-pale malty nose with a subtle fruity touch; moderate to solid sweet flavour with a light bitterness, light to medium bodied, soft carbonation; slightly lingering sweet-malty finish with a very delicate bitter aftertaste. A bit sweet, but not bad........

(bottle) Hazy, golden colour with a big but loose foamy white head. Slightly yeasty, pale malty aroma with subtle fruity notes of citrus, orange blossoms and a light herbal hoppy and barnyard-like spice. Moderately bitter flavour with a delicate malty sweetness, quite slim bodied with a lively carbonation. Pale malt-character with yeasty and shy fruity notes, accompanied by herbal hops; dry and herbal hoppy finish. Another likeable dry and quite hoppy brew from Scherneck, preferable in the summer time. 28.IX.09
