Bottled, from Biershop Bayern. Hazy golden, mid sized head. Fruity doughy nose. Mid sweet with medium body and well rounded mouthfeel. Fruity with some floral hops and grass. Doughy malt. Mid bitter finish.

Bottle from P&M, pours a slightly hazy dull amber color with a cream colored head. The smell is bread, earthy malt, nutty. The taste is as it smells with some herbal notes and a crisp finish. Light+ in body with fairly active carbonation. Pretty decent stuff.

On tap @Buskers Pub (Rome). Pale yellow with a medium head. Aroma is mild, yeasts, bread, some off flavour (diacetyle?), not persistent at all. Flavour has mild bread, malt profile, mild bitter end, not so clean. Low body, inconsistent flavour. Disappointed.

Bottle at home. Low but lasting fluffy white head. Cloudy amber body. Mildly spiced malt grass aroma. Dusty herbal malt grass flavor with a fair amount of hops bitterness, low carbonation and a long finish.

500ml bottle bought at Great Food Hall in Pacific Place, Admiralty.

Cloudy hazy straw golden honey colour with thin trace of yeast sediments; Three-quarter finger head and soapy white foam which lasted for 1 minute; Good sticky lacing and active carbonation; Quite fragrant and aroma of lager malt, with honey, very light dark fruits, light floral, light musty, molasses, bread, yeast, light lemon and light grass; Medium sweet taste of fairly light lager malt, with caramel, light dark fruits, light floral, strong molasses, white bread, light yeast, light lemon and very light bitter grassy hops; Light body. Close to watery palate; Mouth feel is fair maltyness in a really light body. Quite abundant light dark fruits and inoffensive strong molasses sweetness all the way. Not much floral, light breadyness and hops. Pretty one-dimensional but easy going and pretty fresh. Not bad… Hoppiness is light floral, light lemon and light grass in nose and taste. Bitterness is very light, better than most Macro Pales for an abrupt, sweet and low-blow bitter semi-finish; Slightly dry after taste. Sweet and very easy to mouth.

Comments: A Zwickel which is very easy to drink. Sweet and quite fruity but also quite one-dimensional, at least there’s no faults and quite safe as a refreshment. Treat it as an easy one and you’ll be okay.

Not a consistent beer but definitely interesting, and I would be happy to see it more widely available. I have had better bottles of this same beer; these scores are based on all things considered. This particular one, as I type this, is almost farty with diacetyl. All have been rustic -- yeasty and zesty -- but this one not in the nicest way. Light bitterness, some grain character. I would say the dominant characteristic bottle to bottle is a fruity zest component from the yeast and possible the hopping. I enjoy that bit.

Tap. light grain, herbs and dough for three of the four ingredients. Head is large frothy/creamy, white with good lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is hazy yellow. Flavor starts faintly sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and faintly bitter. Palate is light to medium, a little slick with a lively carbonation. A light but above average Zwickelbier for me.
