Bottle from Glug Newcastle. Pours deep brown but minimal head and flat appearance. Metallic aftertaste. Ok but not one I'd fancy regularly

An average alt. foamy head over a dark rust colored body Bready , nose. Taste was mild, not the assertive smoky, malty, yet bitter flavors I associate with my favorite alts

Dark red-brown with a foamy head. Dry, bitter, slightly acidic. Indistinct malt and hop aroma. This is a fair alt, but not up to the same standards of some of its local cousins.

Keg at Three Tuns, Brizzle. It pours deep amber-brown with a small beige head. The nose is earthy, brown bread, fruit cake, raisin cocoa and caramel. The taste is bitter, earthy, brown bread, caramel, toasty, dried fruits, with a dry, earthy finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Drinkable and easy going. Decent enough, but not much depth.

Looks just like a mass produced bitter, and tastes like one too. Used to drink Alt beers when visiting family in Germany , my memory thinks they were better than this example.

2/V/14 - 25cl tap @ Schweine Janes (Düsseldorf) - BB: n/a (2014-462)

Pale clear cola-like coloured beer, aery fizzy big bubbled beige head, also resembling cola, unstable, dissipates quickly, bit adhesive. Aroma: sweet malts, caramel, grains, sugary, cow fodder. MF: lots of carbon, medium body. Taste: some caramel, sourish, bit lemony, sweet, caramel, grains. Aftertaste: surprisingly bitter, sourish, dry, grains, hay, cow fodder, not sweet at all. This brings back some memories. I used to dance on the tables at Knoten after the European Football League’s Worldbowl finals a few years ago... Now having the same beer just one block away from that same place. Pretty funny. :p Different times, different setting, different company. :-)

500 ml bottle @ Bedford:Bamberg Spring Fest 2014. Colour is a ruddy amber/brown. Big ass beige head but that’s down to my drunk pouring. Chocolate malt aroma, slight undertones of metal and grass. Nutty bittersweet taste, simple but enjoyable. Long sweet finish. Warming palette. I don’t understand why this isn’t more highly rated. It’s never going to compete with impy stouts or quads but it’s tasty and moreish.
