Isn’t it great to pick up the perfect bottle of a great brew when admittingly beer can’t always taste this divine. But this very time, it was definitely the best German Alt beer of all. But again, I am willing to take the risk of buying it again and again.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle received in euroswap 1, 2015. Thank you Erzengel! Pours clear deep chestnut brown with a frothy pale beige head that leaves some sparse thick lacing on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty, slightly fruity and tiny earthy with dark bread, cereal, ripe pears, hay, moist soil, minerals, iron, lemon peal and hints of sheet metal. Taste is tiny sweet, bitter, slightly malty, tiny fruity, floral and earthy with dark bread, burnt crispbread, cereal, hay, moist soil, minerals, black tea, dried red berries, walnuts and lemon peal. Mouthfeel is crisp, round, tiny astringent and light to medium bodied. Finish is bitter with dark bread, cereal, hay, moist soil, minerals, dried red berries, walnuts, lemon peal and hints of sheet metal. All in all solid and refreshing but some peary esters and metallic phenols makes takes away from the enjoyment.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
An outstanding example of the Düsseldorfer beer style. Lovely aroma, beautiful reddish color and subtle Hallertauer hops, altogether a very harmonious brew well worth seeking out. Love those old-fashioned swing-tops, too, and the stylish label is a good example of traditional design, fitting well with beer and bottle both.

50cl bottle two weeks out of date. Clear brownish amber colour with a nice off-white head. Caramel, toffee, malt and dried fruits in the aroma. Average carbonation and medium body. Taste is more on the sweet side with light bitterness. Overall, a very good beer. Probably the best Alt I had so far.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
