COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originally developed in the late 1700’s, British breweries would send beer via sail to the troops and British expatriates in India. With a whopping hop aroma and finish, married to dry but full maltiness this ale will remind you of those traditional ales. The copper color, East Kent Golding’s hops and moderate carbonation add to its authenticity as a English IPA.

My 1st Schmohz beer and what a disappointment. This fizzy, sweet, and fruity brew is an IPA in name only. They didn’t bring any hops to the game and what they did bring should have been left at home. With all the great brewers in Michigan (especially Grand Rapids) it seems strange that someone would bother bottling this stuff.

Overall this was a very enjoyable beer but I have had much better IPA’s. I would put this one at slightly above the middle of the pack.

Thanks, Steve! Medium copper pour with a fairly thin carbonation. Dusky and leafy notes in the nose along with solid maltiness, some modest nut. Body is bright and lively, with a moderately dry finish. Flavors are very understated, emphasis on malts and bitter notes with just enough bright fruit to balance. Average.

Fairly basic IPA. Tasted a bit thin, There is some citrus orange taste, but it is watered down in taste. Fresh bottle from Champagne’s Cellars. Not all that drinkable. Pours lots of foam on an orange tinged body.

Deep golden color with a foamy off white head out of the bottle. Some floral hops in the nose with a hint of wet cardboard. Very much an English IPA with prominent bready malts, some fruitiness and again with the faint cardboard. Hop bitterness lasts on the tongue that fades to show more yeast characteristics.

Bottle: The aroma consists of orange, peach, and grapefruit. It pours a transparent amber with a two finger yellow-tinged off-white head with decent retention. There’s some nice webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate orange with some hints of fruit and caramel. The finish has light-moderate grapefruit and hints of peach. It’s lifht-medium bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat soft mouthfeel. Overall, it’s an okay IPA, but I could do without the sweet peach flavors.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy darkish orange color with a decent head that lingers. Very faint aroma for an IPA. Only getting a little malt and some citrus. Taste is smooth but mostly flavorless. Slight sweetness from the goldings hops and the malt. Finish is pretty smooth too but it lacks flavor. Very disappointing IPA.

Strykzone sent me this bottle from a brewery I had never heard of before. It poured a rich copper color with a head the foamed out the bottle. I saved most of it but carbonation was very high. Dirty lacing after is subsided. Nose of light malts and a hint of hops. Medium in body. Fizzy mouthfeel. The flavor is bland, with some funky hops. The finish is an ugly bitter. This is perfect example of a poorly crafted beer.

Bottle. Has notes of cough syrup, weird funk and other sorted infected tones. Medium amber hue with a soapy off-white head with okay lace. Flavor is medium sweet and heavy bitter. Palate is medium bodied and watery average. Overall a big disappointment.
