hazy orange, fluffy off-white head, lacy. malty nose with a tgrace of hops. flavor is malt, immediately followed by a slight hoppiness. medium bodied, lingering bitter finish. not as bitter as i usually want, but what is there lingers there. i could drink a number of these during a hockey game.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
tap at the brewpub last summer - Pours light copper/amber with a lingering head. Thereís a mild aroma of caramel malt and hops. The flavor is mildly bitter with a light body and subdued malt. Itís bubbly and again, okay, but not impressive. To the prior reviewer, this is definitely not a sour beer. Your bottle was infected.

I picked up a bottle while in Grand Rapids. I had pretty good expectations. Looked okay and at first whiff itís very evidently soured with brett for sure and possible bacteria (not sure). Light funk in the nose but mostly acidity. You sour lovers might like it. Not hating. I will try it again next time Iím in town.

One of the best pale ales I have had! Fresh and crisp on the palate with no bitter after-taste.

When I am craving that fragrant hoppy goodness, I reach for a Schmohz Pail Ale.

A representation of what American beer should be. Plenty of hops, and malt.

Nothing to write home about when itís off, but not entirely out of character for the style when it is on. A fairly dry finish for a Pale, but the crisp initial flavor is worth it in the end. Nothing to write home about, due to the consistency issues.

Sample at Schmohz. Pours clear amber with a big off-white head. Belgian yeast aroma of pepper and clove with some bitter hops. Peppery and earthy hop flavor with a lasting bitter finish.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. A clear dark amber color body with a small frothy white head , a nice ring of lace left behind , lots of big carbonation bubbles . Aroma of light pine resin and a hint of cloves ? . Flavor of some fruit , maybe apple skins piny hops and a good but slightly dusty pale malt. clean , but slightly watery mouthfeel ,light body , light bitterness with a nice little hoppy finish . Quite sessionable and pretty good . I am finding that I seem to favor Schmohz bottled offerings more than from a growler , nice to see this stuff at my local beer store , a nice local option for drinking.
