IrishBoy (2209), Bakersfield, California, USA Jul 28, 2007 Bottle from pantanap; Nose of wheat, a bit of tartness, banana esters, spices, and some light hops; very cloudy yellowish gold with a big, but quick disappating goldish-white head; flavor is grainy yeast, hop bitterness, banana, peppery spices, and lemon. Great and different hefe! erbiumyag (1), Brick, New Jersey, USA does not count Aug 22, 2007 A unique variation of a tradtional style. I will definitely drink this agian! CapFlu (3353), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Dec 25, 2007 (500ml bottle) Graciously shared by Joss on his trip to Victoria, CANADA. Pours a cloudy amber body and a white head. Nose is banana bread, machine oil, iodine. Flavour is lasting of hops and reminds me of Jolly Pumpkin with a strong perfume. Yeasty with white pepper. This has got to be one of my favourite beers for 2007. Thanks so much Jonas! hurrisnow (6), Nebraska, USA does not count Jul 3, 2008 This is an incredible beer. It is the best of both worlds. The Wheat meets the Hops. This is a beer that would satisfy the hophead and the wheat fanatic.I had this beer in America and at the Schneider brewery In Kelheim, Germany. If you can get this, don’t pass it up!! BigBen2120 (564), Derry, New Hampshire, USA May 22, 2008 500ml brown bottle from The Lighthouse in Manchester. Pours a murky golden yellow body with a good inch of off-white head. Smells sweet and phenolic - with banana, nut, spice, citrus, and malt all playing big roles. Tastes very complex, sweet, spicy, grassy, malty... Nut, banana, lemon, spices, orange, hints of caramel malt... More hoppy than a lot of examples of the style I’ve tried, but only to balance the flavor out. Other than a slight hop flavor that lingers, the finish is otherwise fairly clean and rather dry. Rich full mouthfeel, yet ample carbonation and no alcohol flavor or warming makes this beer an easier drinker than expected. Wow, this beer is good. Extremely flavorful, complex, balanced and very drinkable. I’ll definitely be snagging a few bottles of this again, not only to compare to the Brooklyner-Schneider version, but also to see how it ages over the next few months (if I can wait that long!)
