Skeegle (476), Maryland, USA Jun 18, 2009 NIce hoppy beer that I do think I could have guessed was from a combination of East IPA and Aventinus. The hops are very nice in this beer and are all citrussy. Not that strong, but it does serve to kill a bit of the yeastiness of the Aventinus. It also takes some of the nicer flavors of Aventinus away. A good beer, but I wouldn’t say its better than either beer necessarily. Its just entirely different. Wish they sold it in sixers, but that seems to be a rare thing these days. travita (1861), Frisco, Texas, USA Jun 16, 2009 The look is golden orange in color with a decent white head. The smell is hoppy, wheat, yeast, clove, fruits, little bit of gum, and slight spices. The taste is sweet, hops, wheat, clove, and spices. Nice. swooper (420), Kladno, Czech Republic Jun 15, 2009 From the czech wheat beer festival, amasing american hop aroma, I never sniff something like this, hazy, golden, white foam, medium sweetness, medium bitterness, full bread body, long finish, bitter, thick feel, lovely beer....i need another one BillKismet (1899), Seattle, Washington, USA Jun 14, 2009 Beautiful, luminous wheaty-tan body with a plush, thick, off-white cream topping. What strikes you first is the whack of fresh hops in the bouquet, quite unusual for the style. After further straining, sprinkles of banana and clove are there as well as a solid wheaty backbone. Citrusy hop flavors and tangerine wash over the palate, followed by the quickly dancing banana-clove pair. Alcohol is well crafted into the beer, but you quickly feel almost overwhelmed by it along with the combination of hops and phenols. Light soapy/sour banana finish. elektrikjester (7), Marietta, Georgia, USA does not count Jun 13, 2009 Served in dimpled mug. Pours a cloudy orange. Sizable off-white head, with moderate lacing. Aroma of citrus (grapefruit and tangerine) with slight muskiness and mild alcohol. Excellent mouthfeel; effervescent with microbubbles of foamy head adding decisively to palate is primarily citrus, with tangerine flavor dominating. Lemon and white pepper in background, with minimal flavor of alcohol. A fine beer, and a credit to all parties involved. Doppelganger (1353), Dry County, Arkansas, USA Jun 13, 2009 Bottle, John’s Grocery in Iowa City. Tangerine pour, lots of just off-white foam, coming out of solution in attractive microbubbles. Very pleasant musky dried fruit aroma. Papaya, leather, lemon. Peppery lemon sorbet flavor, pleasant medicinal touch, drying tannic finish. Delicate, bright and airy palate, without seeming overly carbonated. Lovely beer, a little dash of adventure while still firmly part of the Schneider tradition. screwball (796), Motala, Sweden Jun 11, 2009 Bottle from Systembolaget.
I had this with a good friend of mine. I had never finished this one myself. It´s to stong and heavy. I find this one little hard to rate. It´s so different from other weisen. It´s more strong, heavier taste from spices, candy, banana, vanilla, pineapple, grape and sweeeeet malt.
The brew is very hazy yellow. Head is rocky white. I had fun rating this. A new experience!
