malrubius (969), Valley Stream, New York, USA May 19, 2009 500 ml bottle in weizen glass. Opaque cloudy orange amber with lasting white head and lace. Banana orange peel and hop pellet aroma. Sweet honey peach flavor overwhelmed by tart hoppy finish with lingering bitterness like chewed grapefruit peel. Medium body and medium low carbo make for nice mouthfeel. I just don’t think it works. Why hop a good weizen bock? I don’t want a bitter tart weizen. It doesn’t taste good. I find it amazing that this is rated higher than Weihenstephaner Vitus. Anyhow, that’s just me I guess.
Had to change this from Brooklyn & Schneider. Got ’em mixed up. zvikar (414), Tel-Aviv, Israel May 19, 2009 At a tasting, thanks Shahar, Nice hazy orange with a small to medium head, aroma of apricots, vanilla, marmalade balanced with some acidity and herbs, flavors of apricots with some wild herbs, some alcohol and some bitter herby finish, complexity is great, body is full, the beer is well balanced and mature. Egon (392), Gothenburg, Sweden May 18, 2009 Bottle. Hazy golden with small, white head. Citrus and dried banana? Nice body. Refreshing, too bad I only bought one. One of the better weizen I have had. The only big problem is that it is a bit strong but on the other hand it is a bock so I can/will accept it :-) caesar (3020), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands May 18, 2009 Bottled. Cloudy golden color, thick slight off-white head. Aroma of slight banana, lots of grain, some yeast, bit hop. Sweet banana taste, with a nice bitter aftertaste. Really like a heavily hopped german weizen. Works quite nice actually. Dedollewaitor (3625), Odense, Denmark May 17, 2009 50cl bottle. Thanks to AndersAnd. Deep hazy orange with white head and lacings. Sweet and hoppy nose. Lots of wheat, yeast and American hops. Citrus, pine and wheat. Nice. DerWeg (750), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 16, 2009 Gorgeous pour, truly "Imperial Weizen" look and color. Great aromas of pine, banana and citrus mingled with spices. Taste - HOLY WOW - did they ever tweak this batch for the brewer’s own likings!!! This is custom work. Rich yet crisp flavors, banana citrus cloves orange spruce - incredibly good. Unforgettable, I want a case of this - bottle is from New Beer on Chrystie in NYC. goozen (1061), Leiden, Netherlands May 16, 2009 Bottle 0,5ltr: Yellow hazy traditional Bavaraian brew with an hoppy New York attitude, my god what an beer. jacobwennbom (274), Uppsala, Sweden May 16, 2009 First impression: strong notes of oranges. Golden, very hazy, lots of yeast (you can see it, taste it and smell it). Taste is strong, there is oranges and bitter hoppiness. Lively and sparkly. The high ABV comes through in a good warming way.
