dmtroyer (409), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 5, 2008 500ml. Voluminous white head atop a hazy, almost murky dark golden body. Nose is fairly unique with grassiness, sweet malt, some spice and some tropical fruit. Body is great, lots of apple, pear, wheat, banana and some other tea-like qualities. Dry, hopped finish. Very tasty and quite unique. kiefdog (1567), Tampa, Florida, USA May 4, 2008 50cl bottle from Countryside Liquors (Florida). Pours a cloudy caramel with thick fluffy head. Clearly visible chunks of yeast floating around glass. Aroma: strong citrus aroma with notes of bread, yeast and honey. Stronger notes of orange on subsequent smells. Strong citrus taste, not unlike orange juice, with a medium to full body, slightly syrupy, with notes of grapefruit, tartness and honey. Finish is quick and slightly bitter with grapefruit notes. Interesting hefeweizen unlike most others we have consumed. MatSciGuy (629), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA Apr 23, 2008 [bottle] Pours a hazy gold with a large off white head. Aroma is citrusy hops with some lemon. Flavor is lemony with some pears and orange flavor. Smooth mouthfeel. jimel001 (34), Los Angeles, California, USA Apr 23, 2008 By far one of the most unique beers I’ve ever had. The mix between the bitterness of the hops and the rich maltiness typical of hefeweizens is pretty amazing. The taste is really unique and this is definitely a beer I would recommend. bikesandbeers (468), Los Angeles, California, USA Apr 21, 2008 50cl bottle from WeeHeavySD, Thanks Jon! poured a hazy golden with a huge whiteish head. nice hoppy aroma mixed with some typical banna weiss . Nice complex flavor rich and fruity. long finish. yummy! KnutAlbert (3108), Oslo, Norway Apr 18, 2008 Bottled at the Bull and Castle, Dublin.
Great fusion beer, bringing together the traditions. Banana and wheat malt, then the hops kick in to make this a multi-dimensional beer. Deceivingly easy-drinking, you don’t feel much of the alcohol. Someone said pineapple smoothie, but I enjoyed this a lot. Grassy finish. CharlesDarwin (1823), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA Mar 24, 2008 On tap at Zeno’s Pub - State College, PA. Rich, floral nose in cream of wheat and bubbly champagne esters. Pours a really murky, middle gold with bronze corners and rim of white. Flavor is intense. A really deep, rich wheat flavor, glowing with some caramels, toast and almonds. There’s a fresh bread that moves through a portal of vegetal character. Deep, hearty and a bit meaty. Real and deep. Most interesting here in the hop flavor. It’s got a grassy, bamboo character. A very unique plant character. Not bad, but really, really fresh and vibrant. Gives stunning balance to the beer, but leaves me taken aback. A fresh, well delivered beer. Could have sat a little lighter on the palate, but it’s pretty decent. Not as nice as the reverse version. kappldav123 (1790), Markkleeberg, Germany Mar 20, 2008 Big thanks to joss for the bottle. The bottle looks really good, the beer in the glass is incredible. Very turbid, aroma like a barley wine. Tastes the same - very strong, hoppy, finish very long and intense. Can’t remember a beer as good as this!
