Commercial Description:
Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore...
Up until the 1940's, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created.
Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic "mistake" in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

Bottled@home Apperance: Hazy red/brownish with a decent sized head. No lacing at all. Aroma: Fruit, Caramel, Malt, Alcohol, Yeast. Flavor: Caramel, Malt, Cloves, Fruit, Yeast, Alchohol, Spices. Palate: Very sweet and sticky with lots of sweet malt and fruit. Some taste of alcohol at the end. Warms you up nicely! The normal Aventinus is great and this is a concentraded version if it, can’t go wrong with that. Very good stuff!

For Aventinus lovers this is heaven. Same great taste just a boosted ABV%. Surprisingly easy drinking for 12%

I am a huge fan of the original Aventinus. The eisbock version is amazing as well. The concentration of flavor is outstanding, and even though its 12% you cant really taste or feel the alcohol on the palate.

An amazing amount of sediment and gunk at the bottom of this three-month-cellared bottle which retains most of the great spice and stewed fruit flavors of the regular Aventinus, presenting them anew in greater concentration and depth. Outstanding.

Pours a dark caramel color with a small fizzy head that disappears immediately. It has a tart nose of yeast and dark fruits cherries and prunes. Dark fruity flavor as well with yeast and dried fruits. The sweetness is tempered by a little hop bitterness (spicyness) in the end. I was expecting a richer flavor for some reason, but its still a very lively, meduim bodied , tasty brew

Murky brown with a prominent head. Tastes medicinal, more like a wine than an ale. Too strong for quaffing. Maybe suitable for a winter’s sipping, but wouldn’t want to do more than one bottle in an evening!

Bottle. My first Eisbock. Pours a murky brown with floaters and a one finger beige head. The nose is brown sugar , yeast and dark fruits. The taste is raisins, dates, caramel and yeast with some spice in the finish. Medium bodied. Very good – I don’t usually enjoy overly sweet beers but this is put together well.

Looking for something special and this did not disappoint. Tastes a lot like the regular Aventinus doppelbock, only more intense. Warm and spicy mouthfeel with slight alcohol tingle. Strong caramel tones, sweet, delicious.
