TrefwoordPunk (549), Leiden, Netherlands Jan 29, 2009 Bottle 33 cl. Pours a cloudy reddish brown with a small tan head and a nose of malts, biscuits, dried prunes, cherries and toasted grains. The taste is sweet in a good way, but also pretty alcoholic. Brown sugar and some caramel, but mainly a well-rounded sweetness. A sweet finish too, with a little but of bitterness in the end. A nice beer Bullit (1300), Glasgow, Scotland Jan 29, 2009 Brown colour, creamy tan head. Aroma malts and dried fruits and isopropanol. Flavour has dark malts, glue, sour and alcoholic. EatsTacos (13), , Yukon, Canada Jan 28, 2009 This beer pours very cloudy and dark brownish amber with a really thick, pillowy head. No lacing.
The aroma is mostly dried fruit, prunes and raisins. A lot of roasted malt sweetness in the nose too
The taste is really quite sweet and alcoholic. If you’d had Aventinus the flavour is almost the same, just with a more pronounced alcohol and more malty sweetness. This is aventinus on steroids.
The mouthfeel is pretty highly carbonated and medium bodied.
Pretty hard to drink more than one of these beasts. Amazing contents inside of the bottle, such a complex and beautiful beer. Mottled brown pour with an amber tint. The initially fizzy tan head soon fades leaving a couple swirls at best and a touch of small lace on the glass. The aroma is a bountiful bouquet of plums, red grapes, cherries and raisins coupled by a strong earthy must. Smooth body with a mild boozy quality. A sipping beer for sure, time must be taken to fully enjoy this treat. A warm lingering sweetness follows in the aftertaste. Full bodied flavors of fermented raisins and plums. Table wine accents lend a wine like quality. Thick, sweet malts with a soft bite. World class. cgarvieuk (4159), Edinburgh, Scotland Jan 26, 2009 Bottle at home ...
