Commercial Description:
Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore...
Up until the 1940's, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created.
Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic "mistake" in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

Bottle from Reakt, thanks Ang. Very fruity. Lots of alcohol but the strawberry fruit shines through. It’s good. Alcohol is present, but doesn’t intrude too much. It’s good, very nice fruit.

The nose packs a plum, earthen punch. After minimal fizz, no head remains 60 seconds after pouring. Wine-colored and sinister, I’m halfway afraid of this beer before I’ve taken a sip. The first sip reminds me immediately of a gentle port, but without the sugary overload. Brown sugar and spices are borderline overwhelming, with an oily texture left in the mouth long after swallowing. I feel the alcohol almost immediately, though the punch is well hidden. This would be a serious winter-warmer for sitting around a campfire before bed, but I can’t imagine enjoying this beer much of anywhere else.

bottle - thanks to matt7215 for the trade; pours light, muddy brown; thin tan head quickly fades to the edges; soapy aromas of spice, dank fruit, dirt, musk and alcohol; wow, ton of flavor right of the back with plenty of strength and zing; very spicy and almost too sweet for me

Shared this one w/ SkyCop32. Picked up at Maruhn Getränke in Darmstadt. Pours a dark reddish brown. Sweet caramel/roasty aroma, smells like blackstrap molasses. Roast malt/chocolate flavor with a touch of fruit and great alcohol bite in the finish..

Good Eisbock better than Kulmbacher IMO. Nice and sweet but not overdone like some eisbocks. Will finish later.

Wow. Pours a dark cloudy amber with some yeast particulate and low carbonation. Head disappears quickly and leaves absolutely nothing. Aroma is black licorice, dark fruits, raisins. Flavor is close to the exact same. In addition, there is a lot of warming alcohol, brown sugar, and spice: cloves, coriander. There is a hint of normal wheat beer in there with bananas and vanilla. But the end taste is certainly a little intense- sort of the unpleasant shiver after taking a shot of whiskey. Difficult to drink but excellent for the style. I think I still prefer regular Aventinus.

Bottle. Pours a murky brown. Intense flavors of dark fruits, spice, malts and a warming alchohol finish. Alcohol is hidden fairly well for a 12% abv

bottle, 2005/07167 thanks to swalden 28. this animal poured a murky brown with sediment and absolutely no head at all. aroma of soy sauce, raisins, black liqourice, and dark fruits. flavor had some brown sugar, dates, dark fruits, and alcohol(although masked pretty well). this was low carb and a little dry. good stuff glad BMan1113VR brought this back from cali for my brother.
