Aroma of cinniman, spices and hops. Flavor of fruits, spices and hops. Very good. Jblauvs (530), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Jul 22, 2008 applecider pour is murky and aromatic. Banana clove denotes a nice weizen but a tinge of alcohol shows the ice bock. sweet malts as well. banana malts in the mouth as well, warming alcohol all around the mouth. finish is slightly sticky and malty with a bit of dry alcohol. oteyj (713), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA Jul 22, 2008 Pours cloudy ruby with one finger frothy head. Aroma is raspberry, plum, ginger, and clove. Yeast character is quite prevalent, contributing to some serious spicyness. Other aromas are sweet sugary malt. Flavor quite sweet, though not cloying. Lots of spice complemented by banana, caramel, and molasses. Dark fruits prevalent. Sugars are thouroughly present, and contribute to well balanced and well crafted treat. Palate is thick, sweet, and rich, and suprisingly full. Alcohol is amazingly well hidden- never has 12% been this subtle. I was quite suprised by the character of this brew, for its complexity and flavors are hard hitting and well balanced. rustychiles (997), Mesa, Arizona, USA Jul 21, 2008 2005 bottle.
Pours a deep murky brownish red with very little white head and a bit of sediment. Aroma of fruits, alcohol yeast and spices are present. Flavor is subtle rasins, apples, bread, spices, vanilla, yeast and banana. Alcohol is well integrated at this age and this finishes with a nice thick but not quite too syrupy mouthfeel. NobleSquirrel (1094), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 19, 2008 Bottle from Sam’s Clybourn. Pour is deep and dark with a thin offwhite head. Nose is sweet and tart, alcohol and cloves. A little yeast. Taste is loaded, lot of sweet and spicy character with a ton of alcohol noticeable. Rich, but far from great in my book... boFNjackson (1233), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 18, 2008 Updated: Jul 19, 2008PIB, tap... Poured ruby with a white head. Aroma of cloves and yeast and hops. Very, very sweet with bitter, strong alcohol and a nice malt and hop presence. Like strong, exaggerated wheat ale.
