Commercial Description:
Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore...
Up until the 1940's, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created.
Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic "mistake" in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

I don’t know who ordered this, but it wasn’t me. My notes only reveal someone excited about the high ABV. Very intense alcohol taste. Nice. Sweet. Very sweet.

pours muddy brown, with lots of chunks and sediment floating around with a thin beige head. Smells heavily malty and kind of bread like, with fruits and brown sugar. Flavor is extremely smooth, nice chocolate bread like taste with a warming alcohol finish. The flavor is great, nice and mellow for a pretty strong beer.

Bottle, about a year old. Pours deep brown with chunky sediment that sinks right to the bottom of my glass and a thin, fizzy off white head. Rich aroma with a lot a fruit, including plum, raisin and banana. I also catch a bit of chocolate and spice. Medium full body, with alcohol that tingles and cools. Flavor is again sweet fruit, mostly banana and raisin, as well as clove, bread and caramel. Extreme, very nice and quite drinkable.

(GERMANY) Courtesy of AFI96, Thx Waylo !!! Color is a med brown with a sm-white head. This one has a delightful dark fruit / cookie aroma that is very pleasant to the nose. The taste is of vanilla, caramel , robust malts. the 12% is well hidden in the brew, very nice...... If you see this one buy it !!!!!

bottle. pours a deep brown with a small white head. wonderful aroma of banana, citrus, dough, and a bit of spice, mainly clove. taste mimics the smell though a bit subdued. medium bodied with pleasant carbonation. the 12% abv goes without notice. a wonderful drinker if only it wouldn’t put me on the floor after a few bottles.

Bottle. Interesting nose, lots of alcohol presence, light smoke and sweetness. Dark brown with a patchy head. Huge alcohol, but milky sweet character, caramel, and a smooth palate make it surprisingly drinkable.

2007 bottle. You can taste it’s more "alcoholy" than the regular Aventinus. Although I think a little of the full body flavor is lost in the process. I liked the aged (2002) Aventinus better than either the regular or the eisbock-- just really mellowed nicely over 5-6 years. But the eisbock is enjoyable, although I’m not sure I like it more than the Kulbacker Eisbock.
