SQNfan (591), Wheaton, Illinois, USA Mar 22, 2008 On tap: This was cloudy brown in color and had aromas of chocolate, burnt caramel. The palate was missing weight and power but remained smooth. Brewer101 (162), New Jersey, USA Mar 20, 2008 nice and smooth. Poured dark with little head. It had an aroma of fruit, not sure what type, but it was there. it was nice to drink with a nice after taste Tripplebrew (486), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA Mar 20, 2008 Pours a hazy nut brown red with a layer of tan foam that quickly dissipates to bits of lacing. First thing I noticed in aroma and taste was ALCOHOL...yikes....I shouldn’t drink this on a Thursday night. Beyond that, the aroma is roasted malts, alcohol, caramel, alcohol, almost burnt sugars (flavor is heavy of this as well),and alcohol. Flavor is definitely this tone of burnt sugar, alcohol, sugary liquors (rum), alcohol, strange undertones of bourbony oak, and shockingly shit tones of alcohol. Now, beyond the alcohol in this ... I find the sugary notes too be too much. The body is like a light syrup with some carbonation. Too sweet for me but okay. renffisch (490), london, Greater London, England Mar 18, 2008 0,33cl bottle @ biergasthof schiffner. Alcohol, alcohol, alcohol, hang on... ah, and alcohol. joined in smell with caramel, roasted cereal and boiled fruit. In appearance its dark amber with hardly any head. tastes of dark rum, butter AND alcohol. oddly it was surprisingly light to drink, but still made me go to bed with my two year old niece... daddyslick (36), Arizona, USA Mar 17, 2008 The Eisbock is a slightly distilled version of the Aventinus Weizenbock. It is incredibly sweet, a bit over powering on the aroma, it’s a kind of a kick in the mouth, but it finishes cleanly gotbeach (128), San Diego, California, USA Mar 17, 2008 Bottle. Pours orange/red with a lasting white head. Smooth and creamy with bannana, cherry and a nice sharp kick that is very well balanced. Stew41 (1040), Caulfield, Australia Mar 16, 2008 2006 Vintage: pretty much on the money. Masses of cola, dark treacle, burnt sugar, bitter cooked fruits on the nose. Aggressive, powerful, has good penetration. A little more one-dimensional to taste as the complexity falls away somewhat in favour of hot cooked malts and aniseed. Notwithstanding I’m surprised this weights in at 12%. Needs time. Ethereal (1500), London, Greater London, England Mar 15, 2008 330ml from renffisch. Buttery rich malt aroma. Cloudy brown appearance. Flavour is somewhat swamped by excess alcohol and overall, I think the standard Aventinus is a better drink. It ends up being like drinking a rich dark rum!
