It is a super sweet and complex beer. Tons of dark dried fruit that tastes candied. Brown sugar and wine are prevalent flavors of this beer because it is so alcoholic. Fantastic brew. jewedekind (450), Middleton, Wisconsin, USA

Fair amount of head but a deep red/amber hue in the glass. Translucent. Taste is big on spiciness. Cardamon, cinnamon, allspice, cloves...with no added spice - truly exceptional. Explodes in the mouth, , but finishes clear and easy. Strength of alcohol does heat it up a bit on the palate. wonderful LinusStick (1831), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

I am not a huge fan of eisbocks and this brings out the worst of the style in my opinion. Aroma was big...strong malt character with a bit of light fruit. Pour was a thick dark orange with no movement and no head. Taste was hot and alcholic (not suprisingly) with heavy malt and spices and strong fruitiness. Little carbonation and goes down heavy. The regular Aventinus is 100% better. Snojerk321 (1939), San Diego, California, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Nov 6, 2007 Biggups to my mate for getting me a bottle of this which he randomly found in a bottleo. Batch 2005/12081. Big rich aroma; dark plum, raisin, rich toffee, apple, clove, vinous dark cherry nuances, vanilla, chocolate and lightly roasted malts, aged dried fruit characteristics, hit of alcohol, fantastic really. Pours a viscous deep amber body with a collar of off-white lace, leaving legs on the glass. Texture is amazing, creamy carbonation, like silk over the tongue, slightly surup-like at times but carries the abv tremendously. Flavour is merely an extension of the aroma; baked apple, sherry, dark chocolate and vanilla, clove and cinnamon, muscat-like raisin, licorice, some citrus tang, I could go on and on and on, but the point is, it’s unbelievably tasty. Ridiculously long finish, slightly sweet yet with a tartness and dryness. I have to say, i’m a virgin to the style, but i’ve been seduced already! matt7215 (956), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Nov 4, 2007 Expected banana and clove aroma with a pronounced metallic quality, very tinny. Cloudy brown pour with a slowly growing thick head. Full bodied, yeasty taste of currants and cloves. Cabbage finish that sets it off pretty well. Well concealed alcohol. A very drinkable bock.
