Oct 13, 2007 Tasted at the brewery from the bottle. I really like the appearance of this beer when it is poured. It has a nice, thick look to it, and it doesn’t disappoint. It is very dark with a light tan head. The aroma is strong with dark caramel. The flavor is very strong, with caramel, chocolate, and all manner of dark maltiness, with a very lasting finish.

Oct 13, 2007 Wow! Very nice! I wish I had a few more! It pours a dark brown with a thin creamy head, with a nice fruity aroma. It had a sweet fruity taste that semed to linger. This beer packs a punch. I tried it at about 50 degrees.

Oct 8, 2007 Updated: Dec 12, 2007Pours a muddled brown and nourishing-looking with all that sediment. Interesting beer with plenty of character. Can be dangerously potent. However, the alcohol is detectable so more than one might not be appealing. Uber-malty nose. Also lactic acid. Worstershire and/or soya sauce. Caramel flavors. Maybe even a hint of condensed milk. Strong and sweet, but good. Mellow and warming.

Oct 2, 2007 Ruby brown/black, solid head. Spicy menthol, mint, licorice clove and almost earthy/flowery root beer aroma and flavor as well. The aroma and flavors have a mysterious ginger quality which is accentuated by the presence of alcohol. While I prefer the other Aventinus more, this brew is unique worth trying.

Oct 1, 2007 Bottle, 2006/15654. Aroma of strong banana. Pours with thin head, dark brown color. Very malty, with more banana and caramel. Flavors definitely develop as the beers warm. Very bubbly. One of the best beers I’ve had... ever.

Oct 1, 2007 I see it as a big, powerful barley wine with weizen roots. Lovely dark brown with a big, lasting, light brown head. Sugary chocolate and plum nose. Quite sweet with chocolate malts, dark fruits and rum. Warming. Lively, Belgian-like carbonation. Too sweet to drink much, but what a nice dessert this would make.

Truly a great beer. competes with the great belgian strong ales in complexity, however, is heavier on the fruity notes. This is an example of a beer with the "whole picture" pleasant floral and malty aroma, handsome appearance, full and complex in flavor, and finishes clean.

Sep 27, 2007 11.2oz bottle, bottle number 2006/19132. Pours dark brown in color with brown head. Aroma is sweet and of caramel with a strong alcohol nose. Taste of alcohol, caramel and malt with dry finsih.
