Commercial Description:
Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore...
Up until the 1940's, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created.
Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic "mistake" in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

Bottle thanks to a friend. I can see people enjoying this, but it’s just too much for me. Palate is immediately assaulted by copious amounts of sugar. The flavour is heavily masked by the sweetness, which is still a decent brew. Plums, sugar cane and honey are subtly lined under the strong sweet taste.

Pours red brown with a substantial tan coloured head. Nose has alot of depth and richness. Raisins, caramel with a heap of bready yeast and alot of spicy, clovey phenolics. Palate is quite full, showcasing the rich malt. Finishes with a big hit of abv and yeast driven spice. Quite complex, but the finish is a touch rough, especially once it warms up. Great beer, but certainly prefer the normal aventinus.

Bottle. Pours a muddled brown much like maple syrup with a body to match. Malty and sweet with hints of clove and alcohol.

aroma is plum/alcohol. Pours very dark reddish brown. Some kind of ’pulp’ floating around in there. Taste is sweet, thick and smooth. I love it. I can’t believe this beer is 12%. Bonus points for that.

Pours brown with no head. Aroma is vinous, sticky, and sweet with notes of plum, cloves and alcohol. Taste is plum, cloves, caramel, and a touch of alcohol which is warming in the stomach. Pretty thick and heavy for a wheat beer, and the carbonation is low. I’m surprised by how much I’m enjoying this considering I did not like the other Aventinus. I’ll have to try that one again.

Tap at redlight. Brown body. Very complex and strong smell. Lotta maltiness and yeast. Also has a candy sugar sort of smell and taste. Caramel malts were good. lot of alcohol in the taste.

11.2 oz. bottle from 2008. Bottle #19155. Pours a murky plum color with a huge and fizzy beige head. A rich, complex aroma that features plenty of raisins, banana bread, cloves, cinnamon, caramel, and a yeasty/citrusy tanginess. Big-bodied and syrupy, yet still kinda spritzy and refreshing due to the high level of effervescence. TONS of sweet, candied sugar upfront taste-wise. Banana bread, raisin, fig, clove, and cinnamon flavors follow. Ends with some tangy oranges and a spicy bite. Warming alcohol is present throughout.

Bottle, murky dark red brown color and a little tiny head, that puffs away. aroma is prunes, chocolate and syringa. flavor really complex with dark fruits, milk chocolate a little banana, orange marmalade. The alcohol is evident and a major player in this world class game
