Commercial Description:
Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore...
Up until the 1940's, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created.
Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic "mistake" in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

Bottle pours murky brown, small fizzy tannish head, floating yeasties, and copious amounts of carbonation.   Aroma is yeasty, bubblegum, banana, and wheaty.   Smells just like the Aventinus Doppelbock, very tasty!   Warming alcohol is the dominant factor on this, especially right on the finish.   Definately palatable tho, for a sipping beer at least!   Large malty bock flavor as well.   Notes of plums and figs too... This is tasty!   Yeah, this beer will warm you up.   Full mouthfeel, very velvety too.   I'll definately have this one again.

Bottle. Dark brown with a stable head. Complex, winous, fruity aroma. Flavours start sweet and fruity, good sour cherries provide balance. Full-bodied, but a bit sharp on the tongue. An usuallually exciting German.

330ml bottle, no.22205/2009, bought at the splendid shop called Bier Spezialitäten Laden in Karl Marx Allee. Decent, off-white head over a deep, dark brown body. Inviting aroma of brown malt mixed with dark fruits. Rich taste profile with spiced dark fruits, including figs and apricot, and with the adding impacts of dark wheat. Long-lived aftertaste of jam-like tartness. Vinous to the palate. Detectable alcohol, but not annoying. Maybe a bite too much on the sweet side, however, still German brew craft at its best (Agon hotel, room 802, Berlin 22.11.2009).

,33L. Pours deep brown, nearly ebony, with a humongous wafting vinous pucker of a nose. Very little white head, and what’s there doesn’t stick around. Neutral attack, with some plums, wheat, phenols, and sweaty catcher’s mitt through the mid-palate. Not a very appetizing beer.

Enormous banana bouquet, yeast, malt, caramel and spicey aromas. Auburn colour, very small, tight toffee head, with plenty carbonation. Intense banana flavour, very malty, yeast and clove taste as well. Alcohol is present, but not overly so, malty aftertaste. Full bodied, rich texture, an extremely warming beer. Top notch!

Bottle 067943. Clear brown color except for all the chunks of floating sediment hanging around this elixir. Tan head that fizzled to nothing in a couple of minutes. Sweet sugary smell with vanilla, brown sugar, cherries, dates and wheat. Very complex aroma. First sip, WOW. Excellent flavor. The wheat, dark fruit, brown sugar and spices make a great combination of flavors. At the end of the bottle some alcohol became noticeable as a warmth crept into the drinking experience, sort of as a reminder of the ABV.

Wow, strong flavor. Pours a deep brown color with a small off-white head. Aroma is very sweet with spice, plum and maybe banana? Taste is very sweet with fruity flavors and a lot of spice. Strong alcohol flavor comes through in the taste. Very strong tasting brew.

Cloudy and rather dark. Very, very malty. Strong alcohol kick. A real butt-kicking brew. A wheat doppelbock. To be feared!
