Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore...
Up until the 1940’s, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created.
Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic "mistake" in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

Deep hazy brown coloured beer with a big, cappuccino coloured, medium to good lasting, head. Aromas of plums, bitter almond, toffee, clove, bread, heavier claret, whiff of perfume. Taste is plumy, heavy wheaty, malty, some lighter fruitiness shining through towards finish, peppery, spicy yeast all over it. Lasting warmth. Heavy body, oily texture, average carbonation. Beautiful!

330ml bottle from 20 PIP Craft Pub, Prague. Hazy dark mahogany, small, tanned head that disappears quickly and completely, leaving no lacing. Sweet malty aroma, banana, dried dark fruit, mushrooms, vanilla and cloves. Soft mouthfeel, full-bodied, mildly carbonated. Powerful taste, malty and sweet fruity, banana, dried figs, raisins, peppery yeast, cloves, toffee, dark rustic bread and touch of vanilla and bourbon. Clean and warming finish.

Bottle from bierlinie in Berlin. Pours musky brown with small fast depleting Head. Head has a few fruit smells left from the aventinus left, but also a bit boozy and earthy. Taste is strong and bitter right from the Start, palate has chocolate and bread. High carbonation. Alcohol tends to sink to the button pretty Quick, so frequent swinging of the glass helps. Just a bit of warmth in the finish. A bit too heavy for me, but i expected that for an Eisbock

Отлично& крепкое пиво, хороший аромат и сбаланс& вкус, очень мощно! Алкогол& 12%, но ощущает& что его меньше и пьется достато& легко, а в итоге он дает о себе знать.

Absolute rocket fuel, 12%. Really nice but so boozy. Lovely complex wheat beer taste. Powerful aftertaste. Marked down just because I can almost sense the hangover as I'm drinking it ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours dark red color. Hazy with lots of yeast flating around. Not so big head. Aromas of dark fruits, dates, porto, alcohol. Not so much banana notes inside. Flavor is also very complex. Again dark fruits, caramel , dates with some honey and banana. Full body. On sweet side. Alcoholic, of course. Overall: I am not truly fun of weizens but this one is really good. It is actually very drinkable if it is compared with wine and very carbonated , especially if you look that is cold distilled/fractionated beer. Probably they are also putting some co2 inside after cold distillation.
