4.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Appearance: Utter, complete, total perfection. Caramel syrup with cotton foam. Extremely thick. There is complete darkness; no light gets through when held up to light.
Smell: Bananas. Cloves. Chocolate. Bubblegum. Smells like a hef on steroids. Sweet maple syrup with a hint of pine. Smells like whiskey when it warms.
Taste/Mouthfeel: This stuff is strong. Extremely full-bodied. Pine, caramel, cloves, and a hint of maple hit you first. Then the bourbon, vanilla, and oak, followed by plum and banana. Some coffee in the finish. Tastes like an IPA, hef, and stout all in one.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle shared with friend. Probably one of the tastiest beers I’ve have tried. Punch of sweet dried fruit, fruit cake and marzipan. Thick and chewy. Just delicious.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark licorice color with very little foam. The smell is heavy wheat malty with caramel licorice bananas. The taste is heavy, screams licorice and a little Christmas (at least it’s well done for a snowy winter night). The beer has a background carbonation, that is extremely well dosed. The beer is not my style. The aventinus was already a bit too heavy and boozy for me, and this one is even more extreme, but this beer is so round and balanced, that it’s still a pleasure to drink, so I recommend this, even if you wouldn’t describe it as something I particularly like.

Bottle at home. Cola like pour with long lasting white head. Aroma is malty, a bit of wheat and caramel. Taste is caramel, a bit of fruit, bread and wheat. Smooth, not really boozy tasting for such high ABV. Pretty good beer!

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dunkelbraun mit wenig hellem Schaum. Geruch: Banane, Nelke, Pflaumen, Alkohol. Toll! Der Antrunk ist eine Wucht an Aromen: Trockenpflaumen, Lakritz, Gewürze, Rum. Das Mundgefühl ist ölig und schwer. Der Alkohol lässt das Bier langsam abklingen. Sicher ein perfektes Dessertbier.

0,33 l bottle from EDEKA Mohr, bottled in june 2014. Very murky, dark reddish brown to purple with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, tan head. Great fruity-spicy aroma of ripe bananas, cloves, prunes, raisins, figs and dates. The alcohol is already noticeable. Very intense, sweetish-fruity aroma of prunes, raisins, ripe bananas and cloves, followed by a warming, quite alcoholic but not unpleasant finish with notes of rum and licorice. Full body, creamy and oily mouthfeel, average carbonation. Wow, what a belter! It contains elements of a wheat doppelbock and a quadrupel which is an absolute stunning combination. So rich, powerful and heavy, I love it! Just a little too alcoholic in the end.

Draft at Khyber Pass. Very dark brown pour with a large (though quickly disappearing) beige head. Classic Eisbock - albeit with some stronger stickier dark fruits. Prune danish. Candied black cherry puree. Chocolate liquorice. Flammable plum pudding. Very rich dark red fruit caramels. Pungent deep aromas. Big stuff. Great stuff!

Bottle from McTapps, thanks Sabine. Pours cola brown with a fast diminishing tan head. Boozy, bitter start. Dark fruit, nothing really fights through. Schneider do better than this, decent winter warmer but can’t help feeling disappointed. Drank on a mild May evening, maybe better suited to a cold winter’s night.

Rarity, vey special. Strange colour. Full body, rich aroma, lots of flavour with sweet dark malts. Excellent look, creamy head. Expensive, but smooth and strong at the same time. A hint of saltiness which I adore together with caramel in dark beers. Beer to celebrate the first snow. Fantastic and delicious desert beer.
