Definitely can taste the alcohol on the palate. Sweet taste of bananas. Good beer, but I think I still like the regular Aventinus better. wnp22 (682), Toronto (Roncesvalles Village), Ontario, Canada

Pours same brownish, muddy, purple colour as Aventinus Weizen (AW). No head. Cloudy..,.(n)ice.. After an initial sampling, I felt this was simply an H2O evaporated AW. On second sampling I did a full 180. The aroma, flavour and impact of the alcohol are exponentially more impactful than AW. Its like AW on steroids. My goodness. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 30, 2002 Pours a very cloudy dark brown color with a big tan head that rapidly disappears. The aroma is very sweet and fruity, quite similar to many barley wines I have tried. Full bodied with high carbonation, this one starts out sweet and wheaty and finishes sweet with a mild alcohol kick in the finish. The only thing I don’t like is the high carbonation. Otherwise this is an excellent beer. Dickinsonbeer (3587), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 15, 2006 Pours a deep amber mahagony with lots of yeast floaties and a thin white lasting head. Very complex spicy yeasty aroma with lots of caramel, spices, banana, clove, more frutiy esters, apple, pear. Flavor has tons of caramel wheat, munich and a bit of chocolate malt, fruity complex esters, more plum banana etc. Smooth yeastiness, wheat and a long sweet finish. Not cloying , just complex as hell. Awesome beer. This is pretty much the exemplary beer of the style. Nuffield (2749), Roseville, Minnesota, USA

Artistry is needed to capture the wondrous quality of this beer's appearance--the best that I can recall seeing for a very long time indeed. Pours a lovely murky chestnut color, and the head is incredible. It is perhaps the first head that I've seen that actually increases after the pour before settling down (but remaining). The carbonation in a good glass (I used a Oberdorder Weissbier pilsner glass, don't know if that was a faux pas) consisted of layers of extremely small streams of bubbles, rising oh-so-slowly in the glass. Elegant and attractive. The aroma was bold, reminding me of a Belgian double, with raisin, banana, and a hint of clove. The flavor and palate are affected by a sharp bite of the alcohol--perhaps the most noticeable "flaw" here, if that kind of raw alcoholic tingle bothers you. There is also an attractive creaminess to this provided by the strong malt base, and as it clings to the tongue whiffs of flavor hang around for a long finish. Oh yes, I enjoyed this beer, despite the faults which may prevent this from being regarded as the cream of the crop. npdempse (931), St. Petersburg, Florida, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 24, 2002 Murky and brownish with practically no head. Aroma is chocolatey, with notes of banana and cloves and hints of alcohol. Taste is absolutely unique and amazing. Like a banana split in a bottle--strong banana flavor, with chocolate and vanilla notes, and some other fruitiness--I guess there’s a cherry on top. Also just a hint of cloves or coriander in there. The alcohol comes through a bit too much perhaps, but no matter, this is an amazing beer. pivo (2537), Germany

like a Xmas beer with a strong wheat component.
Malt a-go-go. Big, round mouth feel with a dry
finish. High alcohol. Challenging and not for
everyone, but I enjoy this stuff a lot.

Looks like caramel in the glass. I think its ALL alcohol by the taste! Slight plum? Finishes dry. Very good!
