Commercial Description:
Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore...
Up until the 1940's, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created.
Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic "mistake" in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

Bottle 01568. Pours as black as velvet can get, with a thick, pillowy rootbeer head in a snifter--could be the fifth horseman of the apocalypse by its intimidation... complex scents-- citrus fruit, freshly mown hops grass, and a grapefruit mix... thin and crisp on the tongue... lingering aftertaste that holds like a pilsner... citrusy notes abound, with the slightest alcohol... hops are subdued, while the malts are impaling! HEAVY.... These guys are the masters, and though above my usual palate, this beer is a steam roller, obliterating any pre-existing taste in the mouth andforcefully asserting its power... memorable and warming.

An amazingly sweet beer, the 12% alcohol is completely disguised, so be careful. Not for hops fans :)

330 ml bottle from a trade with hogtownharry. pours very dark brown with no head. good carbonation. aromas very similar to regular aventinus. dark fruits, yeast, and spice dominate. very complex flavours but nothing much different then regular aventinus. let this one warm almost to room temp if you wanna let it shine. oh and the 12% abv was not detectable by aroma or taste but i felt it half way down the glass and I was smiling like a 17 yr old boy at a tittybar by the time i was done.

330ml bottle. Dark brown-black color, with just a tinge of deep burgundy. Deep pungent aroma. Rich and malty, with very subtle chocolate malt tastes along with the banana-like favors of the weizen yeast. The alcohol is completely complimented by sweetness of the malt, reminiscent of a dark Belgian strong ale.

Very complex and spiced flavor, with a perfume-like smell. The malts have a roasted flavor, while the hops are very subtle. It also had a sweetness that is hard to describe. A heavier beer, but wonderful all on its own.

Wow what a great beer! 12%? Hard to believe! Brown pour and a small tan head. Sweet delicious aromas of raisins, prunes, molasses, brown sugar and syrup. Flavor is concentrated, sweet and wonderful. I am glad I have another bottle to drink!!

500ml Bottle from the LCBO in Toronto. Nice cloudy dark ambar colour, with nice head and lacing. Strong malty, fruity aroma. Exceptional malty, dried fruit and strong alcohol flavour, drink slowly to appreciate. Nice lingering aftertaste. Better than the normal Aventinus, which is a favourite on it’s own.

dark brown chocolate pour with a light tan head. lots of carbonation. sweet alcohol on the nose with a little bread and banana notes also. Slight bitterness mixed in with a chocolately bread flavor. very complex. gets better with each drink.
