Commercial Description:
Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore...
Up until the 1940's, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created.
Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic "mistake" in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

Aroma-sweet,cherries,plums. melon, bread, some yeast/wheat. fruity and rich like an English barley wine. Resiny on the tongue. Alcohol bite-more warming than anything. Sticky. Very sweet. Cough syrup.

Very special beer. Complicated strong aroma of malts, fruits, caramel, raisins. Taste is sweet and strong with fruits (orange, banana, apple), malts, sugar and caramel and bites of alcohol. Nice choice especially for cold winter nights.

500 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a cloudy dark reddish brown with moderate tan head. Nose of banana, dark fruit, brown sugar and spice. Flavour is banana, caramel, some dark fruit and a mild spiciness. Syrupy texture. Masks the 12% well. Nice beer.

bottle - pours dark brown with a light tan head. The nose is full of bubblegum, orange peel and spice, I detected the slightest trace of rubber but it did nothing to detract from the aroma. The taste was an explosion of baked bananas, caramel and orange. There was a slight hint of alcohol but considering the ABV was quite muffled, I also detected a slight bit of Borkum Riff tabacco as the beer warmed........Bravo-Bravo

This is an amazing and complex beer which almost has a Smokey flavor to it. A nice reddish brown tint with an off white head this beer is thick on the pallet true to Eisbock tradition. The alcohol comes across more than some others in the style but all and all this is a very enjoyable beer!

50 cl bottle, Mulmur, ON, Canada. Deep hazy brown colour, strong banana aroma. Sweet, smooth and very mellow for a 12% beer, bubblegum and faint caramel on the finish.
