Bottle, 500mL Home. Trade with @Jaghana. Last one of the suitcase ! Merci encore Pascal, tu as changé ma vision, très naïve, des bières allemandes... A dark brown opaque beer witha big beige creamy head ; good retention. Roasty aroma, banana, prune, clove, licorice, alcohol. Medium sweet, light warming background suspended with light dry bitter refreshing waves. Medium body, silky texture, good carbonation, bittersweet finish. Overall, delicious weizenbock well balanced ; firework aroma when temperature gets higher.

Bottle, gift from Ash. Hazy ruby body with a thin off-white head. Faint lacing. Arome of rum, prune, toffee, brown sugar and banana. Flavour of chocolate covered raisins, banana bread and peppery spice. Full body with a creamy texture. Soft fizz. Wonderful concentration of flavours - sweet and warming.

This is a unique brew. Mine was aged for almost 7 years and very, very good. The better with age some say and I believe it. The awesome thing about this beer is sometimes if you have a little whole in the wall spot with a great out of US selection... You may find this one already years old setting on the shelf. Enjoy.

Bottle. Pours clear dark brown with a medium, beige, quickly disappearing head that leaves very little lacing. aroma of brett, alcohol and faint malt. Light to medium body, lively carbo, flavors of caramel, light liquorice, sweet raisins and bananas, lightly bitter and medium sweet and a finish of medium duration that’s lightly bitter and sticky sweet.

A great beer: dark red brown colour. Fruity taste, with some plum, bananas and roasty nuts, perfect bitterness and a nice refreshing mouthfeel.

500 ml bottle, brewed in 2006. The bottle came wrapped in paper and had a tag on purple cord saying that the Schneider Brewery decided to age 240 cases of Aventinus each year starting in 1999, with each batch being held a minimum of 3 years. Served in a mug, the beer pours dark brown with about a half inch light tan head. Head retention and lacing were both decent enough. I like the aroma, the brew smells like cloves, vanilla, plums, raisins, and some dark bread. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some caramel, sherry and bubblegum. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s creamy and coating with a moderate amount of carbonation. I liked this brew a lot. Too bad I can’t remember where I bought this aged version at, I know I’ve had this a little while but haven’t seen it around for a while either. I just know I liked it a lot, and will certainly buy this version the next time I see it!

Pours a hazy dark amber topped by a finger or so of creamy tanned head showing excellent retention and lacing properties. Decent effervescence spotted through the glass. Beautiful beer. The nose is lightly roasty and gives notes of banana, raisins, plums, pumpkim seeds and a touch of hickory. The taste is along the same lines with a distinct fruity bitterness coming through a medium-light body with a nice round sharpness. The finish is woodsy with hickory. Great beer I’m glad I tried out. Cheers!
