Deep and complex – for big and relaxing moments by the fire.

Dark-ruby colored wheat doppelbock with a creamy fine head. Strong notes of ripe bananas, raisins and plums meet liquorice and roasty aromes. Full-bodied and warming, with a well-balanced and smooth finish. The ideal companion for hearty roast meat, venison and also fruity chocolate desserts, “Kaiserschmarrn” (pancakes), “Elisenlebkuchen” (christmas cookies) or blue cheese.

Oldest wheat doppelbock of Bavaria. Since 1907. 18.5°

Cloudy brown color. Awesome head. You can smell out the bananas, the and fresh aromas of hefeweizen, malty caramel and bready aromas too but unfortunately with alkohol. Good aromas of gingerbread occurs after heating and than the beer becomes heavier and has more body and taste :) Not the best weizen bock I ever drunk but it’s definitely in the top 3.

The pour is a gorgeous opaque ruby with a medium tan head...nice retention and lacing. The aroma has nice dark fruits...raisin and fig...with hints of clovey spice, banana, and an earthy/woody nnote. The flavor follows suit...excellent balance of fruits, spice and roastiness along with a mild leathery/earthy hoppiness...just an awesome beer. The mouthfeel is full and silky with a dry earthy/leathery/dark fruit finish that brings a mild boozy warmth.

Bottle at home. Beautiful (!) dark brown/chestnut-like colour with an off-white foamy head. Fruity nose and taste with ripe banana, plums, figs and raisins along with spices (ginger, clove) and liquorice. Quite complex. Medium body and carbonation, weizen-smooth mouthfeel.

Een middelmatig bruin bier waar er zoveel van zijn. Zowel de smaak als de geur zijn niet slecht maar ook niks speciaal

BOD 2010. From the label tied on with a purple cord, "Therefore in 1999, the SCHNEIDER brewery decided to start aging a limited number of cases of AVENTINUS each year in their historical ice cellar in Kelheim with each batch held for a minimum of three years." Pours a dark amber with a deep dark ruby hue. Outstanding head volume, good retention and excellent retention. The final pour delivers yeast sediment from bottle conditioning. World Class rich complex nose of dark fruit (raisin, plum) over a rich malty caramel base. In the background are notes of banana and clove with a hint of chocolate. Full bodied with a rich creamy texture. Well carbonated with rich effervescence from the middle on - palate perfection. The flavor profile is World Class - intense, complex and perfectly balanced. It begins with a burst of raisin and plum that slowly yield to chocolate notes over a surprisingly subtle caramel sweetness. The middle effervesces into a burst of banana and clove. As these flavors fade, a subtle bitterness emerges as does a hint of alcohol. The finish is a slow fade with notes of bitter chocolate.
