Deep and complex – for big and relaxing moments by the fire.

Dark-ruby colored wheat doppelbock with a creamy fine head. Strong notes of ripe bananas, raisins and plums meet liquorice and roasty aromes. Full-bodied and warming, with a well-balanced and smooth finish. The ideal companion for hearty roast meat, venison and also fruity chocolate desserts, “Kaiserschmarrn” (pancakes), “Elisenlebkuchen” (christmas cookies) or blue cheese.

Oldest wheat doppelbock of Bavaria. Since 1907. 18.5°

Bottle. Aroma bananas, a hint of smoke, burnt sugar, caramel, toasted. Hints of roast. Rich malty aroma. Clear deep brown colour, relatively stable head. Taste is suprisingly well balanced. Rather soft mouthfeel, alcohol mostly hidden and manifests only in slightly warming aftertaste. Bitterness in the background, rich malty flavours in the foreground. Banana, lightly spicy, light roasted, toasted, caramel, burnt sugar. Excellent.

I’ll bet few reviewers remember Hacker-Pschorr Hefe Weisse beer - the way it USED to taste, before Paulaner bought up the brewery and completely ruined the beer. That old HP Weisse was my favorite beer and I’ve missed it terribly. But now, along comes Schneider’s Aventinus (or, at least, I’ve just discovered it), with a taste more closely resembling the late, great Hacker-Pschorr than any other beer I’ve ever tasted. Absolutely remarkable. A complex, malty brew with a unique flavor not found anywhere else. To me, the epitome of German brewing craftsmanship. Here’s hoping Schneider never sells out!

Pours in fuzzy brown color with large off white head, mostly disappearing, hazy liquid. Aroma of fresh apple juice, hops melted chocolate. Fresh taste, medium sweet, light bitter, light alcohol notes. Medium body, thick texture, average carbonization

It pours amber with a thick, creamy looking white head. It has aromas of bananas, plums, and roasted aromas. It has flavors of liquorice, roasted malts, dark fruits, and alcohol. It is smooth with alcohol warming on the way down.

I didn’t write much for some reason. Aroma: Malt, light sweetness, wheat. The flavor is similar. It’s sweeter than other wheat beers but highly balanced. Nice.
