4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Not my first rodeo with the Aventinus. But finally decided to rate it. Deep dark brown with medium tan head. Aroma is wild! I cannot demystify a single note in this jungle of emotions. Taste is well balanced everything. Medium finish, a bit of alcohol warmth though. Overall excellent!

UPDATED: MAR 31, 2016 500ml bottle. Julian code dates it to 205th day of 2014. Pours a tawny dark copper colour. Nose is esters, soft fruit, banana, some spice. Palate is bright banana candy with nice malt backbone. Mouthfeel is very well balanced with a medium body. This is fantastic.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
2012 bottle, picked up from Utobeer drunk, 30/3/2016, celebrating England’s magnificent 20-20 result in the cricket against the awesome kiwis!
Poured into goblet glass. Alcohol gushed despite it being held safely in my cellar for a while. It looks like dark ditchwater. It’s really unappealing to look at but that does not bother me at all.
Aroma is barely, nugget sweets, caramel, fresh bread, prunes, figs and campfire wood. Taste is huge. Epic bready texture, raisins, blackcurrants, gum drop sweets, velvet, smoke, prunes, figs, soft malts, effortlessly drinkable for the style. Just an awesome beer. Just overlook the appearance unless I got a bad bottle??

500ml bottle at Mike’s Hot Dogs, Xiamen. Pours hazy dark brown with a white head. Aroma of yeast, banana with some malt. Malty bittersweet finish. Not as good as I remembered from the first time I had it.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at home. 0,5 L, this will do the trick. Clear dark amber/chestnut brown with white head. Very sweet and thick roasted caramel malts. Banana’s, bananacandy, a complex blend of spices and fruits. I taste a hidden light lambic sour, dried prunes, raisins, chestnut, grapes, cinnamon, laurel, licorice, pine resin, honey, maple syrup, alcohol, light layer of dustiness. Over medium sweet and light bitter. Full body, very malty, complex and balanced palate. Full mouthfeel, above average carbonation and long complex sweet, spiced and nutty finish. Very nice beer but this big bottle is gonna be overkill for me alone!

Drank liters of this when on Erasmus in Munich. Now, years later, I found this well aged bottle, and it’s even better then I remembered. Lovely sweet complexity.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
From a bottle. Not my favourite style, well made but a touch too much of a spicy finish from the yeast. Not bad, just not for me.
