5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
UPDATED: JAN 9, 2006 RATING # 1000!: Big clovey, banana, yeast nose. Deep cloudy ruby colour. Big, compact, lasting ruddy head. This is one of my all time favorites. I cant help but give this high marks. Big clovey, banana, faint caramel, toffee, cocoa, phenols, soft luxurious mouthfeel. Pleasantlly bitter yeasty finish, with subdued alcohol. This is a total classic. The representation of the weizen bock style. Perfection...one of my absolute favorites. One aday will keep em all away.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cellar Temp. Great aroma of dark fruit, cloves, and molasses. Reddish brown with a effervescent white head. Very complex robust flavors of dominated by cloves and dark spices in a background of unripe berries. Light bodied and highly carbonated. Finish is very clean with just traces of alchohol and brown sugar.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: NOV 13, 2005 pours dark ruby with a gargantuan head. the aromas of banana and clove that I associate with most wheat beers are here, but less dominant, allowing richer aromas of fruit cake and raisins and berrys to come through. pleasant mouthfeel with a refreshing finish despite the alcohol content.

When I found this beer in a cooler of a convenience store in a small Thai town, I filled my pants and my shopping basket. My glass was filled with a sweet malty aroma; the color and head were as per above photo, with the flavor similar to a malted coke float. Certain sips were almost salty, but I have no idea what the bottle I bought had been through prior to arriving in my living room. Perhaps customs doctored the mixture with a hint of fish sauce. Even so, it was a real treat.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This beer pours a cloudy caramel amber color with a lasting, lacing white head. The aroma is a unique blend of spicey lager yeast, fruity ale yeast, and estery hefe yeast. Behind all that is a thick sweet raisin/caramel malt aroma that lingers. The malt sweetness dominates the flavor, drifting between raisin caramel malt and sweet wheat malt before giving way to a yeast finish. The beer is viscuous on the tongue and finishes warmly. This beer definitely takes the winter chill away, and likely the winter blues, as well.

UPDATED: MAR 16, 2005 I’ve recently changed my mind about this brew - it’s quite good. The biggest selling feature for me is the colour - a purplish brew that screams raisins and other delights. Huge frothy head and wonderful taste...I will get this again!

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
This is simply one of my favourite beers, and one that I don’t really think has the reputation that it should have. It’s an absolute beauty, loaded with flavour - fruits, malts, wheat and just a touch of bitterness to counter the sweetness. Fantastic, and a relative bargain.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark/brown, opaque with a huge white head. Aroma is yeasty and fruity (humm! ripe banana), with roasted malts. Flavor starts sweet with ripe banana striking back, a nice spicy touch (essentially clove and cinnamon) it then evolves to something more malty and finishes on a kind of whiskey/bourbon aftertaste. A very tasty medium-bodied beer.
