Deep trouble copper appearance with a nice head. Aroma is quite complex. Alcohol is very discreet. Not my favorite style or indeed a style that I know much about but I wouldn't mind trying this again.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: APR 10, 2010 Nice deep copper appearance, big head, relatively large bubbles. Aroma of tropical fruits and cloves. On the palate, there was a definite bite from the active carbonation. Flavors of light caramel sweetness, cloves, maybe a hint of banana. A touch of sourness. Not my favorite style, pleasantly surprised overall. RERATE: A long past due re-rate, as I’ve had this many time since and have grown to appreciate it more each time. Had this in a correct glass from a bottle at Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill in Las Vegas. Cloves are there, along with a bunch of sweet, chocolate accented malts, with a touch of wheat. Flavor matches, and there is some gentle fruitiness present in the malts as well. My original rating of 8,4,7,2,16 was the result of my issues with the bock style and the associated sweetness. But 7+ years later, tastes change a bit. I still don’t care for bocks, but a well done Weizenbock? That works for me.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Poured a cloudy dark brown with a thick, white head. Sweet aroma. tates similar to Trappist dubbel, raisiny and wheaty. A bit more sweetness in the aftertaste, with a hint of alcohol warmth. Syrupy on the palate with a nice light carbonated feel. Excellent beer, very complex.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Cloudy, hazy, deep brown/red colour. Lots of lively, mostly lasting tan coloured foamy head. Heavy banana and clove aroma with yeasty notes. Banana, raisin bread, yeasty flavours, with a slight nutty and dark chocolate bitter finish. Medium to full body, thick but dry and smooth moutfeel. Almost like a banana milkshake.

Great hazy brownish/orange color with a nice thick head, good lacing down the glass. Sweet bananas, wood, and cloves in the nose. Sweet woody bananas, and more cloves on the tongue. Warming feeling in the belly. Oh my, one great beer here! Great Fall time beer.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottled. A wonderful beer. A perfect synergy of two beer styles: Bock and Weizen. But I have to disagree with some people, who say that the head was fizzy or small. Mine looked really astonishing and took ages to diminish to a drinking-friendly size (yeah, I was a little bit hasty while pouring out the beer). The foam is actually really thick and looks like it can be cut with a knife.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This beer had a wonderful nose, mostly sweet malt, with a little nutty and raisin aroma. Flavor, for once, matched the aroma of the beer. Appearance is dark, orange-brown, with a nice large white head. Palate is oh so smooth. Very impressed.
