Deep and complex – for big and relaxing moments by the fire.

Dark-ruby colored wheat doppelbock with a creamy fine head. Strong notes of ripe bananas, raisins and plums meet liquorice and roasty aromes. Full-bodied and warming, with a well-balanced and smooth finish. The ideal companion for hearty roast meat, venison and also fruity chocolate desserts, “Kaiserschmarrn” (pancakes), “Elisenlebkuchen” (christmas cookies) or blue cheese.

Oldest wheat doppelbock of Bavaria. Since 1907. 18.5°

Pours a murky gloomy crushed up spoiled pear with pit included. Head is white, frothy, lasts long and laces well. Subdued chocolate covered banana aroma with some clove spicyness. This tastes pretty damn good! This is wonderful! It is simple yet complex and very flavorful. Banana and clove spicyness with some other light fruits and moderate spices. Get a tiny bit of chocolate but not much. Alcohol is very well hidden which makes this just about as drinkable as a regular 5% Hefster.

I love weissbeer with fire and passion. But once I tried this weizen Bock. I truely believe there is a beer GOD! amen. As for aroma heavy clove with slight vinagar and yes there is some smoke. Lots of bubbles high carbonation no head retention. Dark ambered lovely cloud. Sorry no bananas for me. But hey I’ve been beering all day :^). Lovely flavor cloved with fruit and wheat notes. A little alcoholy when warm but I can work with it. Burgundy of weiss bocks. Yet smooth and harsh to it’s own sense of complexity. A must have for hard days and nights. Think not for what you can do for your beer. But what your beeer can do for u.

500ml brown bottle. Brown with ruby highlights. Hazy. Thin, smooth, tight beaded head formed. Aroma of fruit - bananas, cloves, brown sugar. flavour mirrors aroma - banana and clove, with a note of alcohol. Sour/bitter note to the finish.

This is a really great beer! It does not look inspiring, yet tastes it. I would have it again and again if it were not for the strength (though i doubt that to be such a bad thing)

UPDATED: DEC 14, 2005 Pouring out a strangely earthy brown color, there was a thin light brown head that quickly transformed into a glass-encircling halo. Little carbonation. The aroma was acrid, almost vinegary. Despite all that, the taste wasn’t bad... not "gentle" as the commercial description states, but a strong sour fruit flavor with a touch of spices... perhaps even cloves, as the com-desc suggests. Tart, sour finish.

Bottled at Microbar, Battersea. A big thick, white head and dark golden brown colour. Banana and toffee in the aroma, some clove. A nice rich beer, slightly sweet. Couldn’t guess it was 8%.

Bottle. Hazy, ruby red color with a dissapointing tan head. Be sure and swirl the bottom of the bottle to attempt to get such a head as is in the picture. Aroma of banana, clove, leather, caramel and a bit of mold. VERY complex flavors matching the aroma and adding a yeasty componant with a bit of chalk. Spritzey rich mouth feel with a satisfying bitterness and alcohol bite. The benchmark for the style, Aventinus remains the champion.

Easy drink, fairly bitter at the end. Strong clove taste evident. I’d probably have this one again, just not often.

Prettz good beer, though I expected a little more. Really does taste like a cross between a dunkles Hefeweizen and a Bock. Flavors of banana, plumbs and cloves. Quite smooth.

Wow, what a great surprise and combination of flavors! A high alcohol content without an overpowering taste, a deep reddish colored hue, solidly built head, a bit cloudy in appearance, sweet aroma and wonderfully complex palate. A very fine choice that’s well done.
