Deep and complex – for big and relaxing moments by the fire.

Dark-ruby colored wheat doppelbock with a creamy fine head. Strong notes of ripe bananas, raisins and plums meet liquorice and roasty aromes. Full-bodied and warming, with a well-balanced and smooth finish. The ideal companion for hearty roast meat, venison and also fruity chocolate desserts, “Kaiserschmarrn” (pancakes), “Elisenlebkuchen” (christmas cookies) or blue cheese.

Oldest wheat doppelbock of Bavaria. Since 1907. 18.5°

This pours a mixture of dark brown and amber, with a tan foamy head. Glass gives off a gentle, furity aroma. I enjoyed the spicy taste throughout the glass, and it left a long, good finish. Will definitely be drinking this again.

500 ml bottle. Two years past its best before end date. Coarse thin off-white head. Heavily carbonated. Clear brownish and ruby-red in color. Sweet malty and appley aromas. Notes of caramel and dark bread can also be detected. Slightly oxidized. Full-bodied. Not really particularly sweet for the style. Quite possible that some of the remaining sugars have been eaten by yeast to produce the high carbonation level. Wonderful texture; soft and slightly buttery, but also crisp from the carbonation touching the tongue. Caramel and apple flavours. Aftertaste is lightly bitter. Leaves a viscous feeling on the tongue.

Pours a ruddy red/brown with a ample sized head. Tastes of hoppiness, caramels, yeast, and fruity. A solid beer throughout, finished strong with a nice bitterness.

Yikes...this one is a much bigger boy than I expected. Pours a perfect brown amber with an intensely dense and foamy head. Aroma is spicey and plumy...of course some wheat and alcohol as well. Flavor is great and unique. Wheat, alcohol, pepper, anise, plums, yeast, and raisins. Mouthfeel was very smooth and a bit heavy. This shit was great.

Aroma was fruity and carmelly if that is possible. This beer tasted alot like it smelled. It was really smooth without the strong alcohol that I expected. The first half of the bottled poured and drank and looked like brandy. The second half looked like a cloudy homebrew and had an increased slight yeasty flavor. Overall this was a good beer but for the money there are a number of beers I would choose over it, but it has a novel wineish palate wash to it.

Dark brown body with an initially big, fizzy, off-white head. The aroma is banana, wheat and cloves. The flavor is wheat, caramel, toffee, cinnamon and apples. The finish is long, slightly bitter and a bit tart as well. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy with lively carbonation that bites the tongue. Impressive.

Dark brown and thick with clouds, with a an ample dense cream coloured head (they don’t get much better looking than this). A lot of cloves/banana typical aromas from a weizen, but there’s a good deal of complexity-- cinnamon, molasses, caramel. The palate is completely creamy, frothing up as soon as it hits my tongue. When it dwindles down, there’s still some considerable thick/sudsy/chewy/slippery texture to go along with the alcohol warming. The flavor surpasses the aroma’s complexity. Banana and cloves are immediate, apples, cinamon, honey, cream, caramel, grainy wheaty malt, and, of course, alcohol. There’s a sour apple finish with lingering hops (the only place in this beer I really tasted them). I really don’t like wiezens, and yet I really thoroughly enjoy this beer! (and am not just appreciating it for what it is)

Big lasting white head. Brown cloudy beer. Aroma is bananas/pears/cloves, soy sauce. Smells is very fruity whereas the flavour is a bit more complex. Tastes like raisins, sweet, and malty. Flavorful finish lingering fruity bitterness.

Deep amber under a big effervescing off white head. Banana, sour yeast, and raisins in a huge inviting aroma. Thick mouthfeel and a lively carbonation. Clove, banana, dark fruits, and brown sugar all contribute to a complex flavor. A little sour in the finish, but there is enough bitterness to leave the finish clean. This is a wonderful beer.
