3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 argo0 (10388) - Washington DC, USA - FEB 14, 2002
The aroma is sweet, caramel and fruity. the taste likewise. There’s a slight hint of alcohol, but you’d never guess at its true abv. The beer sits well on the palate, and goes down very smoothly. The problem I have with this beer is that by the time you’re at the end of your first bottle, you realize you have no interest ina second -- the sweetness that was so welcome at the beginning has become cloying.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Strange Brew (157) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 12, 2002
Fruity aroma and flavour typical of German wheat beers, but with a little added punch to it. A very interesting and worthwhile experience.

One of the world’s best brews. Very complex for a German beer. Highly recommended.

This is the closest to a near perfect beer. Each time you taste this beer new flavours and aromas appear. Everyone must try this beer at least once!

A wheat and a double bock, maybe a unique combination. great malty flavour, fruity aroma and dark without tasting burnt. Don’t even really notice the 8% abv. Another fantastic brew.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Gooner (136) - Chatham, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 23, 2002
Aroma of pears. Mildly yeasty. Reminded me of a heavier and fuller Unibroue ’Blance De Chambly’. Generous malts and very tasty.

UPDATED: FEB 5, 2003 Wow, if this is any indication of a typical Weizen Bock, I need to try more. Malty with nice sweetness and hints of clove and vanilla. Medium-light palate with lots of carbonation. Very drinkable.

Best of the dark German Wheats. Carmel colored, nice and yeasty. Very malty, goes down easy but is a meal unto itself. Fantastic!

It said ’doppelbock’ (my favorite style) on the label, so I had to try it. Certainly didn’t come off as a normal double bock, but as a special kind of wheat beer. I’ve come to the conclusion I’m not a fan of wheat beers, so my opinion of this may be skewed by that. Maybe somewhat better than the few other wheat beers I tried, but in my case that isn’t saying all that much.
