Deep and complex – for big and relaxing moments by the fire.

Dark-ruby colored wheat doppelbock with a creamy fine head. Strong notes of ripe bananas, raisins and plums meet liquorice and roasty aromes. Full-bodied and warming, with a well-balanced and smooth finish. The ideal companion for hearty roast meat, venison and also fruity chocolate desserts, “Kaiserschmarrn” (pancakes), “Elisenlebkuchen” (christmas cookies) or blue cheese.

Oldest wheat doppelbock of Bavaria. Since 1907. 18.5°

Clear amber pour with lots of bubbles. Spicy aroma, reminds me of alcohol. Smooth easy drink. Full bodied, with hints of apple and caramel. Finishes a bit bitter and sour. Well balanced beer. Great beer for the winter season.

Beer #100!!! Here we go!
Bottle. Pours a beautiful hazy red, with a generous bubbly off-white head.
Aroma is sweet malty caramel. Spicy. Hint of yeast. Very promising...
Alcoholic sweet flavor. Malt, caramel. Fruity and yeasty. Slightly bitter, alcoholic aftertaste.
Medium-to-full body. Rather heavyish carbonation. Gassy.
A wonderfully warming beer for cold winter evenings.

UPDATED: JUL 20, 2006 Very Intriguing brew. Aroma full of fruit yet subtly wheat. To much carbonation.Sweet malty flavor makes it easy on the taste buds. Good overall character. I personally like the clove finish.

Bottle: Dark cloudy ruby colour with a heavy white head. Aroma of ripe red fruits, strong wheat presence. Taste is complex, a mixture between a great wheat beer and a doppelbock without losing one or the other, alcohol is nicely hidden.

Is a bit fruity, with a slightly nutty taste. Highly carbonated. Very good complement to a meal, but not interesting enough on its own

UPDATED: JUN 20, 2006 Pours deep amber into an english pint with a massive head -- which constantly recedes. Raisins, pepper and soy aromas. Full-bodied and creamy. Upfront caramel malts and clove -- slightly sweet. Lasting roasted honey finish.

UPDATED: AUG 11, 2007 My biggest complaint about this beer is that it (the bottle) looks cheap and like every other poorly rated european beer. That aside it’s a pretty good beer. Has a sweet malty character and a little bit of that bubblegum flavor. Due to lack of clean glassware I drank it from the bottle but it looks great in that picture. Alcohol is well hidden. Cheap, too. <$3 for 500ml rerate. I was too imature when i first drank this to really appreciate it. Lately I’ve been on a dunkleweizen and weizen bock kick. I decided to revisit this. This is awesome. Lots of esters with a silky texture and some sweet kind of chocolately notes. not as good as ramstein winter wheat but close. further rerate. i had this on tap a month or so ago, and I’m drinking a bottle now. it was phenomenal, very lush, from the bottle is totally delicious too. when you factor everything, price, flavor, alcohol content, availability, this might be the best beer ever.

Bottle. For some reason, I always tend to overlook German beers. It probably has something to do with the large glare coming from the Belgian section right next to the Germans. Whatever. This is one damn fine beer. Overactive head, but it was fluffy and dissipated rather quickly. Great aroma. Banana, bubblegum, clove and chocolate all in the nose. One of the better aromas out there. It’s a little light, and that’s the only thing keeping it from a 10. Spicy and sweet mouthfeel. Very active carbonation in the mouth as well. Great flavor to match the nose. Somewhat vinous, but not too much. Also the aforementioned chocolate, banana, bubblegum and cloves. Very good beer. This one’s for Dortmunder.
