Dark-ruby colored wheat doppelbock with a creamy fine head. Strong notes of ripe bananas, raisins and plums meet liquorice and roasty aromes. Full-bodied and warming, with a well-balanced and smooth finish. The ideal companion for hearty roast meat, venison and also fruity chocolate desserts, “Kaiserschmarrn” (pancakes), “Elisenlebkuchen” (christmas cookies) or blue cheese.

a VERY nice weizen Bock by Schneider. the first thing you notice when poring is the HUGE merange head that wants to jump out of the glass and halfway down it stays put!! nice aroma of sweet caramel and....raisins? a little whiff of peppery spice as well. I had smoked up some damn fine 3 and under ribs that this beer went wonderfully with. almost to well!!!!!

A Mes rate: Ok try as I might I cant help but admit this is damn fine stuff. Very very good aroma. Wheaty like a white beer, full on and fruity like a dubbel and something that is almost oud brune in there too. Appearance has just been upped to a 5 now that I have noticed how uneven the line between the body and head is. Its bumpy up and down and at each of the down points there is a little spider trail of bubbles leading down into the body. There is no doubt this is a very very good looking beer. Flavour is chunky, balanced and complex. Dark AND light fruit, clove, yeast, caramel and pudding. Damn it’s all over the place! It’s just very very slightly too sweet if you ask me but it’s hard to find fault. Mouthfeel is chunky, smooth and awesome. Just glorious all round really. This one has special memories for me too. Firstly because it finished Sim off big style at GBBF once and I had to LITERALLY carry her home. Secondly because there is a guy who drinks in the wonderful Bar Fringe in Manchester and only drinks Aventinus in the right glass that he keeps behind the bar. He sinks a few of these and then suddenly stands up and the whole place comes to a standstill to watch him float, and i mean float out of the door with his eyes on stalks. Funny. A real sight to be seen.

This is my favorite at the present. Pours with a thick head and a rich, nut/clove aroma. The taste is full but not over bearing, a bit sweeter than most other beer this dark but not overly. It finishes smooth and pleasing.

Pours a deep amber brown with a healthy half inch tan head. Aroma is apparent as I pour, which is inviting. Smell is sweet and peppery. It may sound weird, but my first reaction to the aroma is "beef jerky." The taste is rich and again, peppery. There is little too much carbonation going down, but the aftertaste is like a honey BBQ sauce with a hint of alcohol at the very end. Overall a good beer and probably would go excellent with some slow cooked ribs.

For Dortmunder. My first rating. Nose of Brett, malty wholemeal bread, Dried fruits, museli, faint sweet caramel notes. Body, rich full flavours yet far from cloying nice balance. Cleansing wheaten notes. Sweet front pallet malts complementing dry wheat finish in the late pallet. Nice warmth. Moderate fizz. Rocky yet diminishing head. Like this. Oh, slightly estery come farmyardy on the burp.

Bottle. This is simply wonderful. The carbonation is perfect and it has a nice flavor which has a complex array of fruity sweetness and spiciness that stays on your tongue for quite a while. The only downside is it can linger for a just a tad bit and there seems to be a bitter note in there some where.

Bottle in honour of Dortmunder. Found in Peckham’s. Sparkling dark ruby with rocky persistant head. Aroma of chocolate, bananas, apples, caramel. Sweet and wheaty in the mouth, with a warming sweet finish. Jolly good stuff.

Aroma: vanilla ice-cream, hops, foam candy, malt, baking yeast, cinnamon, cloves, seville orange, raisins, molasses, fruity and berryish, chocolate, vanillin. Raisin brown, pretty cloudy. Off-white, fizzy head. Bitter, well balanced, round sweetness, sweet aftertaste, sourish, soft. Warming, fizzy, round, fantastic.

Bottle: Deep ruby pour. Nice frothy head. Bubbly and crisp initially on the palate, but warms up nicely. Hint of fruit, finishes clean. Superb!
