Dark-ruby colored wheat doppelbock with a creamy fine head. Strong notes of ripe bananas, raisins and plums meet liquorice and roasty aromes. Full-bodied and warming, with a well-balanced and smooth finish. The ideal companion for hearty roast meat, venison and also fruity chocolate desserts, “Kaiserschmarrn” (pancakes), “Elisenlebkuchen” (christmas cookies) or blue cheese.

Oldest wheat doppelbock of Bavaria. Since 1907. 18.5°

Bottle. Chestnut color, hazy liquid, white head, heavy sedimentation. Smell of banana, yeast. Aroma of alcohol, banana, citrus. Too much alcohol in rather boring beer. Nothing special. Tap 5 is way better.

Aroma: Banana, chocolate, quince, raisins, clove, metal (skin-test confirmed). bit low intensiveness. Appearance: Color is dark brownish, high and dense ecru head. Taste: Delicate, banana, raisins, caramel, bread, clove, some metal, very light herbal biterness, minimal chocolate notes; after warming the whole beer gets intensive - maltiness gets stronger, mostly bready and caramel tastes, also clove gets a bigger role, some minimal licqueur alcoho occurs. Palate: Finish is sweet, carbonation is low, body is medium-high.

Bottle. Shaker. Brown, medium hazy with medium, very light brown head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma is quite intense - bananas, raisins, some dried fruits, hints of nuts. Very nice semi-sweet to sweet taste in the end slighlty bitter. Medium body, oily/creamy texture, soft carbonation finish is sweet and lightly boozy. In general very good and refreshing beer, pretty well balance with all the goods that waizen should have.

Dark brown beer with a thick beige head. Aroma is lovely, bananas, sweet malts, yeast. Taste is sweet, yeasty. Bananas and dried fruits. Alcohol is present but not overwhelmingly so. Aftertaste is little bitter. This is no question the best weizendoppelbock I’ve tasted so far.

Bottle @ Whole Foods. Sorry but this was not my cup of tea. Looks good. Even smells good. But the taste was like an astringent fruity vinegary wine or something. I couldn’t even drink all of it. Hard to believe i would say this about a Bavarian Bock but this was Awful stuff! Cannot recommend to anyone.

Bem encorpada. Malte bem presente, assim como o caramelo. Por ser uma doppelbock é bem alcoólica. Ótima cerveja, mas não vale 100 pontos.

0.5L bottle. Looks fantastic in the glass, cloudy dark chocolate brown colour with a huge off-white smooth creamy head with good retention. Aroma of banana, yeast, cloves/spices, dark malt. Taste is wheaty, yeasty, banana and dark fruit, spicy, floral, with a little sharp hop bite in the finish. Lovely smooth mouthfeel, full bodied, average carbonation, alcohol fairly well hidden given the ABV. Fantastic beer, instant favourite.
