Deep and complex – for big and relaxing moments by the fire.

Dark-ruby colored wheat doppelbock with a creamy fine head. Strong notes of ripe bananas, raisins and plums meet liquorice and roasty aromes. Full-bodied and warming, with a well-balanced and smooth finish. The ideal companion for hearty roast meat, venison and also fruity chocolate desserts, “Kaiserschmarrn” (pancakes), “Elisenlebkuchen” (christmas cookies) or blue cheese.

Oldest wheat doppelbock of Bavaria. Since 1907. 18.5°

Farbe richtig dunkel, dunkelbraun. Schaum gut.

Molto beverina e corpo leggero nonostante l’alcol. Frizzante il giusto. Perfetta.

A far too easy to drink Doppelbock! Nice roasty and fruity aromas, perfectly balanced. Deep black with a nice head. Rather Sweet.

500ml bottle pours dark, opaque in glass, violet red brown with light edge and two finger creamy head. Nose is corn flakes, raisin, dark fruit, bread, plum. Mouthfeel is super soft, creamy, delicate, perfect. Taste is a continuation of the nose, toasted corn flakes, dark bready grain, dark plum and grape, banana. So rich and full, complex but inviting. Finishes with a touch of sweetness, dark bready caramel and grape, banana corn flake, raisin, creamy, low bitterness, a hint of warming alcohol. Phenomenal.

Dark, cloudy appearance with ample foam. Aroma is of cereal malt, chocolate, citrus. Flavor is very malty, a little sweet, sour, alcohol, and a little bitterness. It taste a lot like a dopplebock but has some wheat beer flavor in there too.

500ml bottle bought at Berliner German Bar & Restaurant in Langham Place, Mongkok.

Looks: Translucent dark mahogany colour with a thick layer of dark brown yeast sediments; Two finger head with crumpety off-white foam which lasted for 2 minutes; Small sticky lacing and quite active carbonation.

Aroma: Very fragment malt, with strong wheat and tartness, banana, vanilla, alcohol, strong caramel, toffee, sugar, cloves, strong spices, strong yeast, light lemon and grass.

Taste: Medium to strong sweet dark malt, with moderate roastyness, nuts, fairly strong wheaty tartness, strong plums, raisins, banana, strong caramel, fairly strong alcohol, very strong molasses, strong wood, light earth, cloves, strong spices, strong yeast, lemon, medium bitter hops and grass. What a bliss!

Body: Mid to light body. Thin but slick palate.

Mouth Feel: Complexity ahoy! The dark malty body stands up well in the presence of equally strong wheatyness. Very good roasty nutty woody characters. Boozy plums and dark fruits upstage the banana. Strong caramel and right-on strong sweetness. Spicy clove-y with fairly strong lemony hops to round. Way to go!

Hoppiness: Wood, strong spices, light lemon and grass in nose, and much stronger in taste. Bitterness is fairly notable for an abrupt, moderate astringent sweet finish.

After Taste: Fairly dry. Roasty, fruity and slightly boozy to mouth.

Comments: This is a very well-made and complex Weizenbock - malt and wheat are well presented, fruity esters are impressive, booze is strong but undisturbing, and woody, spicy lemony hops in abundance. This is the yardstick of the style, and I am in for a treat!

Bottle. Aroma bananas, a hint of smoke, burnt sugar, caramel, toasted. Hints of roast. Rich malty aroma. Clear deep brown colour, relatively stable head. Taste is suprisingly well balanced. Rather soft mouthfeel, alcohol mostly hidden and manifests only in slightly warming aftertaste. Bitterness in the background, rich malty flavours in the foreground. Banana, lightly spicy, light roasted, toasted, caramel, burnt sugar. Excellent.

I’ll bet few reviewers remember Hacker-Pschorr Hefe Weisse beer - the way it USED to taste, before Paulaner bought up the brewery and completely ruined the beer. That old HP Weisse was my favorite beer and I’ve missed it terribly. But now, along comes Schneider’s Aventinus (or, at least, I’ve just discovered it), with a taste more closely resembling the late, great Hacker-Pschorr than any other beer I’ve ever tasted. Absolutely remarkable. A complex, malty brew with a unique flavor not found anywhere else. To me, the epitome of German brewing craftsmanship. Here’s hoping Schneider never sells out!

Оценки говорят сами за себя. Это пиво лучшее и в своём стиле и вообще.
