Dark-ruby colored wheat doppelbock with a creamy fine head. Strong notes of ripe bananas, raisins and plums meet liquorice and roasty aromes. Full-bodied and warming, with a well-balanced and smooth finish. The ideal companion for hearty roast meat, venison and also fruity chocolate desserts, “Kaiserschmarrn” (pancakes), “Elisenlebkuchen” (christmas cookies) or blue cheese.

2013 bottle to a snifter. Pours a hazy brown with a fizzy white head. Aroma is banana, yeast, a little licorice. Taste is banana bread and raisin with a little sourness and sweetness on the finish. Very tasty. Medium mouthfeel with lots of carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap qt Bryggens Ølbar. Murky, murky light brownish with a small off white and quite some carbonation. Fruity banana nose, wheaty, yeasty, spicy with light notes of dades, citrus and maybe even peach. Flavor is sweet, vineous and wheaty and basically follows the nose with notes of cloves in the warming, slightly alcoholic finish. Full body, extremely sticky texture. Well crafted German wheat, but better suited for a dark winter night than a sunny spring in Copenhagen.

Cunningham (3037) - Halden, NORWAY - MAY 7, 2013

Appearance: Hazy amber color with a fine big off white head, that leaves a nice lacing.
Aroma: Wheat, light banana, mild fruity and some alcohol.
Palate: Medium + body. A bit sweet, and a mild bitterness. Rich carbonation.
Taste: Wheat, fruity, banana and some alcohol.
Overall impression: A tasty and nice weizen bock. The alcohol was a bit sticky a first. But ended up more pleasant and warming.
Personal stats: Bottle from Utobeer Market Stall in London, England.

Brown with small head, lots of floating stuff in the liquid. Citruses and some hays in the aroma. Taste is sweet with wheat and some fruits (like peach) too. Interesting, complex brew.

Head: beige, big, creamy with good retention. Color: mahogany, cloudy. Aroma: banana, raisin, a bit vinous, alcohol/solvent-like when it gets warmer. Taste: starts fruity, then wheaty. The finish is phenolic clove spiciness. Complex and special. Has to be served cold, otherwise the alcoholic/solvent component gets too strong in the aroma.

Bottle. Brown beer with a small head that is rather lively on the pour. Aroma of vanilla, banana and cloves. The taste is of cloves, banana, vanilla and sweet fruits. Not too sweet though. There is a warmth in this medium bodied beer. This is one of those beers that gets better the more you drink it. Very nice.
