Deep and complex – for big and relaxing moments by the fire.

Dark-ruby colored wheat doppelbock with a creamy fine head. Strong notes of ripe bananas, raisins and plums meet liquorice and roasty aromes. Full-bodied and warming, with a well-balanced and smooth finish. The ideal companion for hearty roast meat, venison and also fruity chocolate desserts, “Kaiserschmarrn” (pancakes), “Elisenlebkuchen” (christmas cookies) or blue cheese.

Oldest wheat doppelbock of Bavaria. Since 1907. 18.5°

Smaak is medium zoet, zeer licht zuur, heel weinig bitter. Erg lekker!

500 ml bottle to a snifter. Deep mahogany with foamy beige head which fades to thin lacing. There is clove, banana, dark fruit, toasted biscuit and sweet toffee on the finish. Impressive complexity for a wheat beer. Could almost pass for a Belgian triple... Very tasty.

Banana upfront with notes of cloves and rich melanoidins. Appearance is brown with a slight haze. Flavor has a rich malt flavor with notes of cloves and bread. The beer is malt forward. Hop bitterness is low. Mouthfeel is full with medium high carbonation. Overall, it's a malty smooth tasting beer with notes of banana and cloves. An overall great tasting beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle, 500ml. Pours mostly clear dark brown with some yeast residue. A fine, dense, medium tall , beige head. Aroma of sweet jasmine, caramel, corn, floral. Mouth feel is creamy with a medium-thick body and gentle to medium carbonation. Tastes mostly sweet, but not too much, with very very light sourness and bitterness. Flavors of caramel, strong corn flavor, jasmine, bread, fresh ripe fruits, floral, clove, liquorice, grapes/berries, slight herbal-medicinal (in a good way) hops, not bitter, slight alcohol. No straight-up malt flavors. Ends not too sticky with sweet floral honey taste. Great flavor complexity, very nice drinking overall. Very sweet, yet not too sweet, thanks to the slight sourness and background hops.

Bottle. Nice aroma of banana and clove. Flavor is banana, dark fig, and prune. Finish is slightly bitter. Body is medium. Carbonation is fine and prickly. Not sure how I haven’t rated this one yet, but on the way home today I had a craving for this and so I bought it. Overall this is a well made affordable beer that I like, especially in the fall.
