4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Murky reddish brown, dense white head; aroma of sweet malt, candy fruits and booze; taste of caramel, Christmas cake, marmalade with a hint of the usual banana and clove wheat beer staples, perhaps some cherries in there too; a full mouthfeel and a boozy finish; a somewhat decadent, complex winter wheat treat.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
BOD 2010. From the label tied on with a purple cord, "Therefore in 1999, the SCHNEIDER brewery decided to start aging a limited number of cases of AVENTINUS each year in their historical ice cellar in Kelheim with each batch held for a minimum of three years."
Pours a dark amber with a deep dark ruby hue. Outstanding head volume, good retention and excellent retention. The final pour delivers yeast sediment from bottle conditioning.
World Class rich complex nose of dark fruit (raisin, plum) over a rich malty caramel base. In the background are notes of banana and clove with a hint of chocolate.
Full bodied with a rich creamy texture. Well carbonated with rich effervescence from the middle on - palate perfection.
The flavor profile is World Class - intense, complex and perfectly balanced. It begins with a burst of raisin and plum that slowly yield to chocolate notes over a surprisingly subtle caramel sweetness. The middle effervesces into a burst of banana and clove. As these flavors fade, a subtle bitterness emerges as does a hint of alcohol. The finish is a slow fade with notes of bitter chocolate.

Powerful aroma of bananas, some brown sugar and spices. Could inhale this all day long. Multi tiered flavor, banana on the front slight licorice and alcohol on the end. Very good stuff

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark brown color. Banana, licorice and dark malt flavors in the nose. The taste is very heavy, effectively hiding the notable alcohol content. The taste is dominated by dark malt aromas, licorice and banana notes. I think the beer taste is a bit too heavy.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from a pint bottle into a weizen glass on 12.29.13.
A: Opaque dark brown. Very thick looking. Big, fluffy head.
S: Banana, cloves.
T: Roasty banana, with cloves, malt, and alcohol burn.
O: The alcohol is not hidden very well as it is with other weizenbocks. It almost overwhelms the flavors. It’s good, but there are better weizenbocks.
