MoritzF (3883), Ruhrpott, Germany Mar 29, 2005 Updated: Sep 25, 2007 (bottle) Pale dark ruby to brown colour, medium off-white head. Intense banana aroma rounded up with little yeast. Very creamy palate. Absolutely well balanced, a cornucopia of flavours. The alcohol becomes present slowly after a few sips. A heartwarming Weizen Bock, one of the best I had so far.
kiwibt (4), , New Zealand does not count Oct 4, 2008 Bottle, Pours a cloudy brown with a large lasting head. Aroma of cloves, chocolate and slight phenolics.
Flavour is a very good balance of chocolate, caramel.
Overall a very good beer, the 8 % alcohol is well hidden and the wheat sourness balances the chocolate body.
Very well made. adjdleon (1), , Alabama, USA does not count Oct 4, 2008 Bottle. This is a great beer with a perfect hint of caramel and sweetness, and good alcohol notes near the end. One of my favorites upon arriving home from work.
esox (111), Oulu, Finland Oct 2, 2008 Bottled. Porus hazy amber to brown. The large head really looks nice: smooth and creamy. The aroma is full of malty sweetness, earthy yeast and lots of dark and sweet fruits like dates or raisins. Banana esther is luckily not that overly presented. Delicate spiciness especially int he finish with clear cloves aroma and less obvious peppery tones. Alcohol is barely noticeable in taste but it warms up nicely. Tha flavor is sweetish wheat-malty and with brown sugar or syrup. More sour towards the finish due to yeast and fermented fruits. There´s also light bitteration in the finish. Palate is full bodied and amazingly soft. Carbonation is just perfect: it´s enough to give some spine without being fizzy at all. Leaves sticky syrupy feeling on your lips. You can easily tell by palate that this is a strong beer but still... 8,2 ABV?! Amazing. Aventinus really is a magnificent combination of complexity and supreme drinkability. bconley (36), Fern Park, Florida, USA Sep 27, 2008 Really liked this one. Very cloudy amber pour. The cloves are really present in the smell. Nice carbonation. Wheat and carmel tastes are great, and the cloves and fruits shine through too. Really like this guy. danielcurtis81 (97), San Diego, California, USA Sep 26, 2008 Getting notebook online. Bottle. A quality beer with good caramel tones. Cloves come through nicely as well. Good drink but a bit overrated.
