Deep and complex – for big and relaxing moments by the fire.

Dark-ruby colored wheat doppelbock with a creamy fine head. Strong notes of ripe bananas, raisins and plums meet liquorice and roasty aromes. Full-bodied and warming, with a well-balanced and smooth finish. The ideal companion for hearty roast meat, venison and also fruity chocolate desserts, “Kaiserschmarrn” (pancakes), “Elisenlebkuchen” (christmas cookies) or blue cheese.

Oldest wheat doppelbock of Bavaria. Since 1907. 18.5°

Very complex to say the least. First off, when I poured it, the dark opaque color surprised me. The aroma is very sweet as is the taste. I can taste so many varieties of flavors in this beer it is crazy. I taste an apple/raisin/nut flavor that is good. But in my opinion, the flavors are too complex for most drinkers. Definitely a fine brew though.

Eye: murky brownish color and smal tan head, dissapears quite quick Nose: bananas, caramel, dark choc, plums, lots of plums Mouth: ripe fruits, sweetness balanced with roastiness and toasty notes, full bodied, smooth finish, little warming, no clear alcohol notes! --- A classic style beer that could compete with the best India Pale Ales available.

Bottle at Goro. Aroma: Floral, slight sour notes, citrus, herb, and banana as it warmed. Flavor: Roasty, nutty bready and banana. Comment: complex and impressive. This easily beat out the Korbinian. Great stuff.

On tap. Pours a deep, cloudy brown with a foamy tan head and lacing. It has a sweet aroma wit lots of banana, some sweet malt and clove. The flavor is sweet throughout, with slightly fruity notes, some spices like clove, and a sweet finish over a light body. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cloudy, muddy brown. Nose is all spice cake. More spiced banana bread on first sip, then fades quickly and turns somewhat thin at the finish. I’m definitely on the lower end of the scale with this one...

Excellent and port - like. Reminded me quite a bit of unibroue’s Trois Pistoles, but half the price for a bottle which is nice. Wonderful and easy to drink.

Bottle as Tap 6 - Unser Aventinus. Unclear dark brown with a medium sized tan head. Over ripe banana, raspberry, figs, white raisins, light brown sugar, cloves, light rye bread. Medium body, medium sweet and light/medium bitter. Oily texture, medium carbonation. Long soft finish with banana and cloves. Good stuff, but makes me want to trink the big fat eisbock version right away.
