Deep and complex – for big and relaxing moments by the fire.

Dark-ruby colored wheat doppelbock with a creamy fine head. Strong notes of ripe bananas, raisins and plums meet liquorice and roasty aromes. Full-bodied and warming, with a well-balanced and smooth finish. The ideal companion for hearty roast meat, venison and also fruity chocolate desserts, “Kaiserschmarrn” (pancakes), “Elisenlebkuchen” (christmas cookies) or blue cheese.

Oldest wheat doppelbock of Bavaria. Since 1907. 18.5°

Serving: from bottle--purchased at Allendörfer. Aroma: lightly yeasty-soapy aroma. Appearance: large, rocky, off-white, initial head with fair lacing and mostly lasting longevity. Hazy, dark-amber to light-brown body. Taste: moderately sweet, caramel malty initial flavor and heavily to harshly sweet finish with long duration. Palate: medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation and alcholic finsih feel. Overall: Yuk. Aroma didn’t pique my interest, but appearance was great and made up for the aroma. Then it was time to taste . . . and yuk. This stuff was too sweet for me. I wouldn’t drink it again.

Bottle - lively deep ruby body with a big foamy light brown head. Aroma of rich cocoa, bubblegum, cloves and yeast. Taste of coffee, cocoa, cloves, hints of roast malt, light bitterness to finish. Lots of spice with hints of caramel. Medium body, high carbonation. Quite sweet.

Scents of banana and plums top off this reddish ale that poured with an inch of froth. It had a spiciness that linger a little but not over powering. Very smooth with a little alcohol punch at the end.

500ml bottle. Dark amber color with one finger off white head. Smells of dark fruit. Tastes like banana and dark fruit, maybe plum. Ends dry and fruity.

Intensely nutmeg and spice hiding the ABV. Terrific malty taste in combination with the spice like a heavy fruit bread. Strangely with little of the typical banana esters.

Pours dark brown with thick, creamy off-white head. Smells like caramel and bread malts, figs, spice, floral hops, dates, and sugar. Tastes rich, like sweet malt with strong dark fruit, light floral notes, light spice, mildly sweet finish.

Mooie donkere kleur met een flinke schuimkraag. Bier is lekker zacht van smaak. Bouquette is fruitig. Smaak wat bitter en vlak.

500 ml bottle to a snifter. Deep mahogany with foamy beige head which fades to thin lacing. There is clove, banana, dark fruit, toasted biscuit and sweet toffee on the finish. Impressive complexity for a wheat beer. Could almost pass for a Belgian triple... Very tasty.
