Deep and complex – for big and relaxing moments by the fire.

Dark-ruby colored wheat doppelbock with a creamy fine head. Strong notes of ripe bananas, raisins and plums meet liquorice and roasty aromes. Full-bodied and warming, with a well-balanced and smooth finish. The ideal companion for hearty roast meat, venison and also fruity chocolate desserts, “Kaiserschmarrn” (pancakes), “Elisenlebkuchen” (christmas cookies) or blue cheese.

Oldest wheat doppelbock of Bavaria. Since 1907. 18.5°

Bottle. Poured a medium hazy brown with a very large off-white fizzy head that dissapated rapidly and had no poor lacing. The aroma was complex with a dark chocolate malt and a sweet earthy yeast that had notes of clove, banana, vanilla and a mild alcohol scent. It tasted sweet and acidic with a mild hint of banana and chocolate in the begining and the become mildly sweet with a yeasty-sour flavor that had a nice spiciness at the finish with the flavor lasting only a short time. Mouthfeel was light to medium in body and watery in texture with a lively carbonation. Overall an awesome wheat/bock beer, in fact I think I will just have to drink another.

Bottle from BevMo! in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is plums, rum-soaked raisins, spiced fruits, bananas, minor floral notes. Taste is chalky / wheaty with dark fruits and floral flavors...some herbal liqueur / booziness. Not a big fan.

50cl Fresh in Vienna. Pours hazy dark brown with thin brownish head. Aroma of malt, raisins and sweet licorice indeed. Very close to dunkel, but is weizen and indeed super malty as a good bock should be. Tangy and fizzy, with medium body and a creamy finish. A bit dry. No 8.2% is noticeable at all. One bottle is more than enough for a person. A close sibling of Aventinus Eisbock but rather more gentler. A superb brew!

Bottle as a gift from Helsinki. BB 06.11.2016. Pours a very hazy coppery brown with a slightly creamy white head. The head is thick and retains nicely. The nose is wheat, wheat, wheat at first (as it’s cold), then warmer notes of banana and a bit of spices, bubblegum sweetness. Tastes so rich... not exactly sweet, not bitter at all, not... Well, difficult to say. It’s luxurious. Malty, wheaty, with a touch of bananas. A bit of bitterness later on. Smooth in the mouth, carbonation just enough and very thin. There’s a sharpness on the palate (do I dare say ’plastic’?) which makes it just a bit less enjoyable. Otherwise very good.

From. 500 ml bottle into a ? Glass. Pours a purplish brown with a TON of very frothy off white head. Great fruity aroma with banana and cloves. Mouthfeel is luxurious. Taste is wonderful with lots of banana cloves bubblegum dark fruit and dank cheese. Best doppelbock I’ve had. The depth of flavor is outstanding . let it watm.up a bit first.
