motelpogo (4124), Plzen, Czech Republic May 2, 2008 i picked up a 1.5 litre PET bottle of this at the brewery to take to a barbecue and drank it out of a plastic cup. quite hazy, murky yellow. very sweet aroma - musk, banana. very drinkable and authentic hefeweizen which just could use a bit of saltiness
Quack-Duck (1973), Bodensee, Germany Nov 1, 2008 on tap at the brewpub. Cloudy pale yellow, large white head. Full-bodied, wheaty and yeasty with a pleasant malt body. Quite hoppy fopr a Hefeweizen, which is really pleasant. Saaz hops combined with this style of beer works perfectly for me. One of the best Hefeweizens I’ve ever tried. evanrail (30), Prague, Czech Republic Sep 30, 2008 1.5-liter bottle courtesy of Pivero — many thanks, amigo. Pours a very cloudy golden amber with a long-lasting, puffy white head. I’m getting some unexpected toffee notes in the nose, followed by atypical spice (not clove) and not too much banana. In the mouth, it is surprisingly malty and rich, finishing quite sweet. A rare beer by any standards, and something I’d definitely like to try again. Like, why don’t I have ten of these bottles in the gimp room? asheft (1017), Marburg, Germany Aug 29, 2008 [on tap at brewpub]
Fresh sourness from the wheat comes through in the nose. Hazy dark yellow covered by a nice dense sheet. Smooth and refreshing with good sweetness that is not quite evened out by bitterness. Medium body, clean finish. KimJohansen (4299), Copenhagen V, Denmark Aug 28, 2008 Hazy orange with medium creamy white head. Sweet yeasty aroma with fruity and mild wheaty notes. Sweet yeasty flavor with peach and caramel notes. Ends sweet. ChristianScheffel (2318), Odense, Denmark Aug 11, 2008 Hazy golden with a small, but lasting white head. Fruity aroma with a little banana, plus undefined yeasty aroma. Sweet flavour, full body, but a foul yeasty astringency.
