The beer poured out of the bottle hazy and golden brown with a lot of sedimentation ... little black flecks throughout and even huge chunks toward the end. It smells like lime and brown sugar, with some hints of spice. The taste is sweet with tepid citrus notes, sort of like a beer mixed with flat diet sprite. The ABV (which is rather high for a Weisse beer) comes through in the finish, so you can taste the alcohol a little bit. Considering how much I enjoy some of Schneider’s other brews, I’m really surprised how awful this one is. I’m not altogether certain what style the Edel-Weisse is meant to emulate. Perhaps I got a bad bottle?

From 500 ml bottle. Pours a hazy honey-amber with a fluffy lasting white head and moderate carbonation. Aromas of orange, flowers, banana, coriander, bubblegum and a bit of pepper. Taste begins with slightly drying burnt orange and pepper before a juicy citrus wash kicks in. Finishes with a bit of banana and some floral notes. Lightly peppery aftertaste. Really good stuff.

Cloudy orange-gold with small white head that persists as skim. The nose is banana, clove, a hint of vanilla, but also herbal/grassy notes. On the palate, it strongly hits all those hefeweizen notes, plus a passing bit of bubblegum and a consistent spicy, peppery tone that adds a further dimension. Medium bodied and smooth, with a well-gauged bit of bitterness, this turns out to be good company for Thai food.

13.5.2014. Very hazy yellow-orange with noticeable yeast coming from the bottle. Attracting aroma of banana, citrus, yeast, which are also present in taste. Nice, a bit stronger and fuller wheat beer than many lighter counterparts.

Bottle (500 ml). Bought @ SAQ. Split 2-ways with Minderbinder.

Appearance: Hazy yellow/golden with a small white head and some lacing.

Aroma: Banana, cloves, german yeast, herbal/leafy presence, peppery notes and wheat.

Taste: Taste is moderately spicy (cloves, peppery notes) with bananas, light acidity, wheat and herbal presence.

Palate: Medium body. Medium to high carbonation. Prickly. Moderately spicy finish.

Overall: Very good German Hefeweizen. Well balanced despite the place taken by the spiciness. Tasty and quenching. I would be curious to try a fresh bottle of this.

0,5 l bottle from craftbeerstore, bottled 19/12/2014 (as "Mein Grünes"). Murky, brownish orange with a huge, foamy, slowly diminishing, white head. Heavy aroma of banana and cloves with notes of vanilla. Taste is banana and cloves, maybe some hints of vanilla. Medium long, rather bitter finish. Medium to full body, creamy mouthfeel, average carbonation. Typical hefeweizen, but a very aromatic and good one. I expected a little more exciting hop aroma but do not want to moan too much. Thumbs up for the organic approach.

0.5l bottle from Warners at the Bay. Pours (with adding the yeast, of course) cloudy yellowish brown with a big head. Fresh wheaty nose, not much bananas. A bit more bananas in the taste, but still very refreshing and tasty. Clearly more refined than Tap 1 or Tap 7.

(Schneider Georg Schneiders Wiesen Edel-Weisse) As Schneider Weisse Tap 4 Mein Grünes, 200ml teku glass from the tap, at tap takeover, Cafe Caspar, Arnhem. Very hazy body, dark orange in colour, with a tall thick off-white head, with great retention, leaving medium lacing on the glass. Aroma of clove, plenty of other spices, ripe pears. Nice taste with clove, other spices, very yeasty though. A numbing feeling on the palate, good carbonation, medium body. Good.

Relatively clear for the style. Only slightly hazy. Aroma is banana, cloves and perfume. Slightly flowery taste. Reminiscent of a hefeweizen but has a nice hoppy bite on the end
