COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With its amber-mahogany coloring and streaked with fine top-fermented yeast, this beer has a fine, persistent head that adheres well to the glass. It is pleasantly fruity with a typical top-fermented smell, an aroma of clove and nutmeg apple tantalizes the nose. On the tongue it is fresh, clean, full-bodied, harmonious and well-balanced. It finishes with a light, delicate taste of bitters leaving behind a sour impression.

Murky brown with a foamy, white head that recedes to a patchy blanket. Fresh aroma of lemon, spicy cloves, and faint banana. Where the aroma is not strong in banana esters, the flavour would be quite tasty for a monkey. The banana taste is followed by cloves, but is not really spicy and there is a refreshing citrusy note throughout. No bitterness. Medium to full body with substantial effervescence and a small alcohol warming effect. A+.

UPDATED: JUL 9, 2005 Bottle: Pouring dark amber with a small scummy head that dissapeared in about ten seconds things didn’t start well for me with this. However, my fears were diminished with a draught of the fresh aroma - classic phenolics and spices that were sweet and wheaty with lots of synthetic banana. The flavour was darker, like the beer itself, and confused me at first. Spicy wheat with some earthy and grassy hop flavours towards the end. In fact I think the finish is probably where this beer shines with a lingering tartness and wheaty hop flavour. I found the palate somewhat dry and the carbonation a little coarse. All up this felt like an unfinished beer conceptually, but still very nice. 7/3/7/3/12 = 3.2
Re-rate: More together this time around with some smokeyness filling out the middle. 7/3/7/3/14 = 3.3

The head looks like soap water, but it sure tastes like a weissbier. Very dark though compared to the wheat beers I’ve had earlier.

On tap at the Bermuda Brau, Wien. Dark Amber, hazed, lasting whiye head. Particularly restrained weisse, more subtle in the spiciness though a corriander flavour shows through. Refreshing though a little flabby sweetness. Good though.

Bottled. A decent example of the Hefeweizen style. Spicy clove, banana aromas. Typical of the style. Nice yeastiness. Overall a nice refreshing beer.

UPDATED: FEB 8, 2005 Good beer but the Schneider Aventinus is much better. The taste is weak in comparison. The aroma is good but it lacks the spicyness of the Aventinus. I still recommend this though, because it is a solid Hefeweisen.
