3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
16 oz bottle. After drinking hundreds of these in Berlin in the early 90s (3 per week for 100 weeks) I finally get around to providing a rating. Starts of with lots of banana, then finishes with clove and a hint of licorice. Benchmark hefeweizen.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: OCT 28, 2012 From bottle, dark cloudy amber tones with a nice white head. Spicy aroma with clove, orange peel, vanilla and banana but mellow palate that smoothly moves through thanks to a well-balanced carbonation. Medium sweetness with no bitterness that stays in mouth for a long time. Refreshing at the end with a long bready finish. This is for me the reference for a Hefe-Weizen, consistenly excellent, either from bottle or from tap, it delivers. Revised rating up to 4.5 from original 4.1.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours awefully clear amber color with a big white head. Aroma is a nice banana spice malt mixture. Flavor is very similar to aroma with a wheaty fruity finish. The start has a big difference from the dry wheaty finish......I’m not describing this one well. I like it, but it is different from the other hefe I have had. Perhaps less yeasty and the carbonation is a bit less lively which seems odd. Very nice and a refreshing.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark amber color with an initially large head, but it melted away quickly. Aroma has some ester involved. A very mild dusting of wheat in the taste with some hops, but not as much malt as you might expect. It has a spiciness that is reminiscent of some Belgian beers. An okay tasting brew, but I wouldn’t hold it up as the standard Hefeweizen of any origin, let alone German.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Has a spicy aroma with some skunkiness and some fruit. Amber in color with not much for a head. Seemed to have some sourness. Has a yeasty taste with cloves.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Ahhhh - wonderful. Thick rocky head lasted a long time, and the aroma/flavor combination was perfect. The brown color is offputting, but no matter - a very fine hefe.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Large head disappearing fast. Cloudy amber. Aroma: yeast and banana. Same in the taste and with some bitterness in the rather long finish. Really good Hefe-weizen.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pretty good wiess. Medium amber color with a nice off-white head and plenty of body. Bananas, lemons, and yeast all fill the nose. Malted wheat and citrusy hop flavors. Neiss weiss.
