3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: DEC 7, 2010 Bottle, A cloudy pale to medium amber beer, with a huge, rocky, fully lasting white head. The aroma is moderately malty and lightly yeasty, with notes of banana, clove, bread and biscuits, perhaps a hint of pear. The flavour is moderately sweet, moderately sour, lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, not a very long finish with light bitterness. A clean and dark example of the style, very nice powerful aroma, quite good mouthfeel. Very nice.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a dark tan that gets lighter at the bottom of my weizen glass. A good 2.5 finger, frothy head with decent retention. This is a very thick, wheaty hefe. there are hints of sweet spice in aroma+flavor, but not as much of the heavy citrusy aspect common to alot of hefeweizens.
Slightly syrupy mouthfeel.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours deep amber into a weizen glass. Off-white micro head turns congomerate as it slowly recedes. Clove and sour apple aromas. Smooth and clean clove and nutmeg with a dry, slightly sour medium lasting malt finish.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
By the bottle... Moderate appearance for unfiltered brew, very appealing aroma (banana & clove) and good head retention. Crisp fruity taste, thin body, with a carbonated finish.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
500ml bottle - pours an amber gold/light copper colour, with a massive white head on top. Aromas of yeast and banana, light fruit and bread. Flavour is watery for my tastes, and too thin which keeps this from earning big points. Otherwise, had a bready quality. Were the taste as big as the aroma, this would be a better beer. Not bad, but not nearly as good as the same brewery’s Aventinus, and not as good as other Hefeweizens I’ve had. Decent.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
500ml bottle serving it chilled in weizen glass. Nose packed full of apple, spice, liquorice and brown sugar. Pours a clean deep amber with big off-white head. Flavour is quite satisfying and complex; brown sugar, apples, clove notes, vanilla, with a liquorice note towards the finish. Good combination of a fine weizen bier with attributes of a dark beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
500ml bottle: Beautiful, strong, complex aroma leads into a very drinkable brew...nothing too heavy, but you know you’re drinking beer! Concur with other reviewers who remark on the yeasty/bread flavors that dominate this beer, much more so than other weissbeers. Definitely not as smooth as say, a Paulaner, but a quality, original drink...would recommend!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cloudy brown colored pour the nice sized head. A light fruity, bread aroma to it. A light yeast flavored finish. Not too bad at all.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cloudy dark copper body with a very small white head. Aroma is wheat/bread, tropical fruits, cinnamon bun, cloves and a bunch of other spices. Taste is less complex than the aroma. It kept reminding me of Cheerios, the one with the spices (forget its exact name) with a touch of caramel. Unfortunately the body is very thin, borderline watery. It was very good at first but I got tired of it before the end of my pint. Different. Although I don’t think that’s what they meant by it I found this Schneider Weisse Original to be exactly that, original.
