With its amber-mahogany coloring and streaked with fine top-fermented yeast, this beer has a fine, persistent head that adheres well to the glass. It is pleasantly fruity with a typical top-fermented smell, an aroma of clove and nutmeg apple tantalizes the nose. On the tongue it is fresh, clean, full-bodied, harmonious and well-balanced. It finishes with a light, delicate taste of bitters leaving behind a sour impression.

This, while less complex and outright amazing than Aventinus, has a less overpowering sweetness, and is probably more balanced. So far the best german wheat I’ve had aside from Aventinus, which is really in a class of its own, even among that all too rare dunkel doppelweisse category. Not a lot of hops, but it can’t be all things to all people.

bottle-pours a dark amber hue with a nice fluffy white head. Pours much darker than most hefe’s, almost like a weizenbock. phenolic aroma of bananas, lemon zest, and lots of spice. the dark malts make a presence also. flavors are fairly malty with the normal hefe banana notes with a lemon note on the finish. tasty! a nice spritzy body brings the flavors in quite well.

Aroma with banana, malt, wheat. A quite dark weisse for a non Dunkelweizen. Orange-brown color, frothy fluffy head. Malty, spicy, tart acid note. Apple and clove notes. Astringent finish.

Adherent and persistent foam. Unusual color, amber and clear brown. Lightly veiled with a remarkable infeef fizzy. Much bubbly. Intense scent with fruit and lemon aroma. Present also notes of scotch. Taste fresh and decided with one good persistence. Medium bitter. Truly valid.

Muddy orange pour with a bubbly off white head which quickly disipates. Nice Hefe aroma dominated by banana and pear peels with hints of spice. This beer has a great mouthfeel and a crisp, dry finish. The body is thin and balanced throughout - great drinkability.

Pretty dark for a hefe, hazy, lots of carbonation. The head was pretty fine, not too rocky. Had about half of it, and then some chicken wings, I think it would have gone better with some sausage.

Good colour, typically hazy, good fluffy head, and what a nose, spice, malt, citrus fruits, the works..sets the tastebuds tingling but it must be said that while there are lots of flavours, I’m a bit let down after the complex aroma, a "classic", but have had better.

UPDATED: MAY 22, 2009 Dec 31, 2004: Pleasant, but very yeasty. I happen to like yeast, so this gets a good rating :) Wheat, yeast and fruit makes for a well-balanced weizen. Very dark appearance. Re-rate May 22, 2009: Upped this a bit. It’s very good :)

Brown Coloring with Sandy Head. Coriander/Yeast Aroma. Carbonated. Coriander… Light Wheat. Mainly Carbs and Coriander…But Solidly The Best Beer I’ve Had This Night. For a Hefe, This is Very Decent, But Not What I Would Want in a Balanced Hefe.
